Maybe my new favorite Chinese restaurant in Blacksburg? Just ate here for the first time today, and while it is probably still a bit soon to call it my favorite, I am definitely excited to return and try out more of their menu. I got take-out Dry Pot Beef which comes with a pretty generous portion of beef & veggies and a pint container of white rice. Although I bought it for just me, I will definitely be getting two whole meals out of this which makes the total price (about $16) pretty worth it in my book. The beef was super tender, super flavorful, and very spicy which is a big bonus for me. At a lot of the local asian places when something says spicy on the menu I'm often disappointed because I know they make it "American spicy" or basically what a little kid would say is spicy. Here that is not the case. This was a pretty good heat level, and if you're very into spicy foods this will be for you. Not crazy hot though, so next time I think I will ask them to kick it up even hotter.
They said it would be ready in 20 minutes when I ordered, I got there after about 16 and it was bagged up already and ready for me to go. The interior is really nicely decorated and looked very clean. I loved their packs of to-go chopsticks which included a napkin, a spoon, and a wrapped toothpick. So handy! (Although I ended up using my own chopsticks at home as the ones in the package were a bit shorter than I like.)
The dry pot beef includes onions, green and red peppers, dried peppers, garlic, tofu skins, seaweed, mushrooms, zucchini, lots of chili flakes/chili oil, and parsley. Has the delicious flavor of chili and five spice, and not overly salted. Overall, so good and much more authentic than the run of the mill general tso's or orange chicken that is just sugary chicken. The menu seems to have a lot of choices to make everyone happy, and does have the Americanized chinese staples like General Tso's and sesame chicken for those who may be a bit less adventurous.
Can't wait to come back and try out more...
Read moreLISTEN UP FOLKS!!!! This restaurant will hand you a menu but the prices on that menu are not what they charge you! You will be charged about 30% more per item, even for beverages. I’m not talking about Covid surcharges. This is illegal and also fraud and I cannot believe after they’ve been doing this for months now that they have not been penalized by the state for it. They will not make it right when you question them to stay in compliance and their excuse is that they have 10k menus with the old price but the real price is higher so they want to use the old ones until they’re gone before printing new ones with the real price (because it’s a great trickery scheme!) and never felt the need to warn people of the higher prices than what is stated in the menu. It’s a guessing game. If one notes x price on the menu but really charges you a higher price, then the sales tax you are being charged applies to the higher price but if they only report collecting tax on the menu price, then they’re pocketing some unreported dough! It’s decent food but notice there are other bad reviews complaining about the same fraudulent issues, so take your money to Himalayan Curry Cafe instead where you’ll enjoy great food and you’ll know how much your bill will be without any...

Original post: Three star for dry pot chicken and 5 star for broccoli chicken.
I heard a lot about their dry pot chicken. So ordered it. I am a huge fan of Chinese food but this was my first time trying dry pot chicken and first time in Spicity. The portion was fair enough for the price, though they are bit pricey compared to other Chinese restaurants. It comes with huge portion of dry pot chicken with a little box of rice. Looked delicious but the amount of sichuan pepper they put in it was extremly overpowering that you cannot taste any other thing. It was a disaster. I am so disappointed. But, may be I’ll give them another chance.
Broccoli chicken was good and not different from any other cheaper restaurants. I do recommend them though. Try it, you may have difference experience than mine or may...
