We’ve tried this place maybe 3-4 times since moving here. I believe the reviews reflect mostly older regulars as the food might be comparable to a K&W Cafeteria My son and I stopped in to see if they had any fired chicken and give it another try since the other times we’ve tried eating here were not that great and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they are short handed. But, it has never been poor service, but always poor food. I was told they only serve fried chicken on Sundays. So my son got the French dip…big mistake. Not sure what that was but it definitely isn’t fresh sliced daily meat that was described as a response to another complaint about it. They also said they sell 100’s of sandwiches daily. The seating availability states otherwise. I ordered the fried chicken salad. They brought out some type of sub with fries. We ordered the potato skins with no bacon. 😞 those tasted like sadness to me but I was so hungry I put a ton of salt on them and devoured them. I asked for the bill before they could bring out the correct order for me so I’m not able to comment on that order. Look at the picture, does that look like au jus sauce for French dip? 🤢 don’t know what it was but it tasted like water and had some kind of sediment floating in it. Those are regular fries but their grease hasn’t been changed in so long they look like sweet potato fries. All I can say is that the defensive responses to the honest negative reviews speaks miles, so I’ll just kick back and wait for their defensive response...
Read moreI am from out of town and wanted to find a local restaurant. Online it states that there is an 18% fee for parties of 7 or more. That is customary and expected. Due to covid we ordered take out for a party of less than 7 and were blindsided by a 15% fee. We were told upon pick up it is for order over $50. I understand employees aren't getting as many tips with take out orders vs. covid and maybe this is the reason for the fee, I am unsure, but with it not be listed as a fee on their website we were slightly blindsided by this.
I'm not sure how to post a response but I called in the order so I would not have seen it posted on the door and we are not from here to see it for the past 4 months. We were not told it goes to the servers, as I stated it was my guess. I also did not see it on Google as I went to the actual website where it is not posted. You are on top of responding to reviews immediately so i have no doubt that you will be able to update your website accordingly too. I get businesses are hurting, but I wanted you to be aware. I would have much rather given that fee to the servers rather than paid for silverware we didn't receive and the 5 Styrofoam to-go containers. Now that we have eaten the food it is mediocre at best. The fries were brown (not the golden brown they are supposed to be) the color and taste that comes from not cleaning out the fryer and the other food wasn't great either. We don't live here so we won't be back anyway, but I still wanted to leave an honest review for...
Read moreUpdate 3 Years later, changing my review:
Today I remembered why we hadn't ordered from Abby's in SO long. Ordered 3 Meatloaf specials and all was ok except the meatloaf had way too much green peppers in it. Also ordered a Philly Chicken with no lettuce. Unfortunately the chicken pieces on the sub weren't fully cooked and the sub didn't have the unwanted lettuce, but it also didn't have any onions or cheese that I could find anywhere. The fries that came with it (specifically ordered not overcooked) were totally unedible, so overcooked they tasted burnt and had so much salt on them I had to wash my hands after picking thru to see if I could find any that might be edible. I just don't know what's happened...their fries were one of the best reasons to order from their restaurant. The last several times we ordered from there the fries have always been overcooked. Ended up having something else DoorDashed because I couldn't eat anything. So far everything I have tried on the menu has been so good. The Specials are always great, but I am loving the Philly Chicken sandwich with grilled chicken and onions, provolone cheese with tomato and mayo. The fries there are always good and I really like them when they don’t over cook them like most places. I am thinking of trying the Veggie Sub next and adding ham to the cucumbers and onions covered with melted provolone and cheddar cheeses (anyone out there have reviews on the Veggie Sub?). Abby’s has enough on their menu to...
