The food was so much better than the service. I really wanted to love this place...but frankly, I honestly got better service at the Dairy Queen we stopped at for dessert. If the waitress would have had an ounce of enthusiasm about the fun stuff on the menu, the dinner (and review) would have been better.

Main gripes, if I ask about an entree (quail), you should know it, or offer to get answers. If I'm only halfway through a steak, don't ask me if I'd like dessert (not offer a dessert menu...just the question) and set the bill down. White linen tablecloths and pretty atmosphere just make you expect more.

Lesser gripes. Don't let me stand for a full five minutes at an empty hostess stand. No "be right with you", or anything when I was seen waiting.

Great things. There is pride in this building. Menu has a Chefs flair. Food was tasty. I had the ribeye, cooked perfectly. Wife had the filet, I was jealous.

Restaurant Recently Re-opened* Such a beautiful, historic building! We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's day lunch here. From the moment you step in the door, it's a great experience. We were greeted with hospitality that you don't always see anymore. The gentleman was excited about the building and was a pleasure to speak with about the plans for this Arts complex as well as his menu recommendations. We enjoyed the Duck Confit Egg Rolls with sweet chili dipping sauce, the Rueben sandwich and the Muffuletta. Each sandwich comes with your choice of Sweet potato, zucchini, regular fries or a petite salad. We had a very pleasant waiter and the server that brought the food was just as nice. I definitely look forward to seeing the theater re-open for performances and this beautiful center to be a vibrant spot in this sweet little town. A strange side note but worth mentioning... We have been to the Uptown Blanco twice and both times thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We found the service quick and friendly, the food cooked perfectly and the atmosphere comfortable. The price is comparable to most average restaurants in Austin, but the quality was above average. We will be stopping at the Uptown whenever we are...
