My friend and I met up and decided to go to a ramen place. We almost went somewhere else, but the price point said "$20-$30 per person" which, to me, is way to much and defeats the point of ramen. Then, we came across Momoya Ramen on Google and it ticked all the boxes. The price was right, the menu was easy, and - most importantly to me - it looked like a small local restaurant.
The restaurant itself has a calm atmosphere. Plenty of seating without being cramped, really cool artwork on the walls, and the music choice is nice and the volume is perfect - allowing you to easily sit, enjoy a meal, and talk amongst your group.
The menu is small, which is a good thing. There aren't hundreds of options for you to get lost in and not make a decision. Here, there are just a few well-curated dishes that the chef knows how to make perfectly. We started with the Chicken Chashu Buns which came with a wonderful sauce and the buns themselves had the best pillowy texture. Then, I was going to order the Spicy Miso Ramen (my usual ramen order). But after tasting how good the buns were, I decided I should try the namesake dish - the Momoya Ramen bowl. Each table has a jar of chili paste you can add to your dish, so I knew I would be getting my spice fix one way or another. The presentation was beautiful. This bowl looked just like what you would see in a food magazine.
How did it taste? Well... In a perfect world, all the ramen I eat from now on would taste like this. The texture of the noodles was so perfect and it stayed that way throughout my time eating it (sometimes noodles start to get soggy while you're eating. Not here.) The pork was so tender and easy for me to break it apart into smaller pieces or leave whole. Everything was cooked exactly the way it should be. This bowl was so good that I almost forgot to add the chili paste! I'm glad I didn't forget to though. If you're a spice person like me, this paste will satisfy you 100%. Just be sure to add it little by little because I can definitely see someone getting out of hand with it.
I'm angry at myself for not taking photos, but honestly, I think that is a testament to how great this ramen shop is. I was so comfortable in the space, enjoying talking to my friend, and the food looked so good that we just had to eat right away. No breaking the moment to take out a phone here, just good food and good company. That includes the owner.
He was so kind, and attentive with a great attitude. He helped us choose what to order and checked on us regularly. It's the kind of care that you only get at a local place and not a chain restaurant.
If you're in the area and looking for traditional, quality ramen that wont break the bank and leaves you feeling satisfied,...
Read moreWent here expecting great things and it didn’t disappoint. Had their signature Momoya ramen which is a tonkatsu broth with pork slices that are pan fried and was very unique. Not too soft like most other places also just the right thickness. The broth wasn’t too salty and was rich without being too heavy. Ramen was good. My wife had the Spicy Miso which was also good. Wasn’t too spicy, good flavor. We also tried the pork soup dumplings and they were good! Even better than some places that specialize in soup dumpling and that is the ultimate test. Another couple ordered fried calamari, which smelled really good and we almost ordered it to try ourselves. The lychee sparkling drink was good. A little on the sweet side, but after the ice melted, it was much better. Definitely coming back to try their other ramen’s like shrimp and seafood and will try more of their other appetizers. Highly recommended. As the other reviewers have mentioned there is plenty of parking...
Read moreDo you want to have the best ramen in town with great service and plenty of parking? Then come to Momoya Ramen! This is my 2nd visit and it was delicious once again. The buns with pork were so generous in portion size (probably twice as big as the other places) and the chasu ramen was so flavorful and filling. The noodles were nicely chewy and the pork slices (3) were perfectly charred. The Thai boba tea was really good with the boba being more fresh, not too chewy. I also appreciated that the straw was cardboard rather than plastic, and guess what? It held up just fine. Last, I didn’t have to wait 30 minutes for my appetizer, as in other places. Even with only two staff, they stayed on task for everyone’s orders. I can’t wait to...
