Decided to meet up with some friends and fam to avoid watching the NBA Draft since Phil Jackson is just making my Knicks an NBA Joke. I recommended this spot because I had been eyeing it for a while and had a taste for something good. Overall it turned out to a be a great decision. Rolled up in this spot with a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate for a 6:30pm last minute reservation. My quick break down below (Insert Emoji Finger Pointing Down Here)
Customer Service: (4.5 out of 5 Stars) Our waitress was outstanding and very professional and most importantly PATIENT!!!. We were all over the place with what to get questions etc.. but she remained professional and helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Everyone was nice and helpful. Only negative was I had to keep asking every now and then for water since they had these little glasses I would literally down the glass in two sips lol (Just leave a large Bottle of water on the table so customers can help themselves #SimpleFix). The Waitress and helping server would disappear at times but over all Service was on point.
Decor/Ambiance: (4 out of 5 Stars) First thing that out to me when I walked in was CLEAN. Very Cool Ambiance nice mix between simple and slightly upscale. Good date spot or place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary etc.. The atmosphere is very relaxing as people started to come in the noise started to rise overall not too bad though. A decent space gap between tables to have intimate private conversations when speaking in a regular tone so you don't feel crowded and have the ELBOW ROOM you need (In my Ludacris Rapping Voice). Very easy on the eyes loved it personally.
Food: (4.75 out of 5 Stars) I LOVEDDDDDDDD the food overall. The "Roasted Duck Confit" with Mushroom Risotto which was what I ordered was amazing the Risotto well season cooked perfectly and the Duck was so tender and juicy Good LORD !!. The "Pan Seared Scallops" With Uni Sauce & Mushroom Risotto was A MUST ORDER. Scallops might have been the best I ever tasted seriously. The Uni sauce blend with the Scallops was perfect and Flawless. Everyone loved their food. They have a ton of options on the menu and Vegetarian option as well (I recommend the "Vegetable Ramen" Pan Fried Very Good when I tried some of my friends order) Dont laugh you MUST ORDER the Edamame's YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the best EDAMAME's EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (In My Valley Girl Voice) they were in some type of addictive buttery flavored seasoning that was ADDICTIVE.
Negatives: The Soy Sauce was very strong in a negative way it was like the Sodium was trying to have a fight with your mouth. So do not have Soy Sauce with your Sushi because it will ruin each bite to where you won't enjoy the sushi as much. It might work for some but I advise testing a little dab before going all in with the Sushi LOL, The Entree portions were a just a tad smaller than what i thought they should be for the prices. The food was good no doubt but the Quantity vs Cost/Quality ratio was just slightly below satisfaction level. EXHIBIT A (Please see my pic of the Miso Glazed Sea bass entree and tell me if you would pay $24.00 for that lol). Parking can be annoying because of the metered parking on a busy street. I recommend coming after 6pm so you don't have to worry about finding a spot and worrying about a parking meter.
Overall I love this place just some little things nothing major to clean up. The food is amazing you will just overpay a little in my opinion based on portion. The staff and ambiance were overall great. I recommend parking on Warren St. next to Gencarelli's Bakery after 6pm to avoid congestion and find parking quickly for free. I will definitely recommend this place based on my...
Read moreThis is more of a review of my expierence working there (on my first day "training)) to let anyone who is looking for a job know my horror story:
There has been a sign saying they are hiring Servers for the past couple months. I just had gotten back from school and was looking to for a waiting job. I go in and give my name and number. They call me and tell me they want to have me bus tables on a Saturday night in the Summer??? First of all that is not the fairest of situations but I decided the money is better than the reward. So I go in and I get maybe about 10 minutes of "training" (basically showing me around the restaurant). Throughout the night I was consistently harassed by the manager Alice. At one point one of the other waitresses told me I was doing a good job and Alice just told her to shut up and not tell me I'm doing good. What a complete mood killer. I go through the rest of my shift more observing (because that's what I was told to do being my first day and all) At around 9pm, Alice comes over and starts saying how I was a "failure" in front of the other customers. She also used a lot of very unnecessary profanity and even went ahead and called me a couple names. What a complete waste of time and the best part is I was never paid. For anyone who is looking to work here, just keep walking. Complete waste of my time and even worse that I went out with an even more sour taste in my mouth after being called some...
Read moreWabi Sabi does best what most people say they do: sushi. Their restaurant is decorated with plaques for best sushi, best sashimi, and even the best restaurant in Bloomfield.
Having tried their Godzilla Roll, I'm inclined to agree. Their entire menu of chef's specials is filled with both familiar and unique rolls. The Godzilla Roll immediately stood out with an assortment of fish, including deep-fried tuna. It was a great mouthful and exceptional taste.
The Dirty Roll was also quite good. Lots of elements complimenting each other. I think for some folks, there may be too much going on, and the flavors can be lost, but I appreciated how everything came together. Very yummy.
I was drawn to the presentation of their grilled squid, but the taste didn't wow me as much. A simple salt and pepper squid served with soy sauce. Good portion, and not bad, but I think I'll stick with the sushi at Wabi Sabi.
I always appreciate an attentive staff, but at some point, it started to feel like I had 3 people at my table and not just the 2 lol...
Overall, I enjoyed my visit. One of our servers also shared their insight into the baby yellowtail sushi that we ordered, in comparison to regular yellowtail sushi, which I appreciated. Thanks...
