My roommates and I have ordered from this restaurant many times over the years, and it's generally a good to great experience. The food is good, the staff are mostly friendly (not all can be A+ workers), and it's worth the price for what you get.
However, this time, the experience was less than pleasant... We had ordered curbside to go, had no issues in getting that to go thru on the website, was sent a text to check in when I arrived to let them know I was there. The time given for pickup was 4:02pm (EST). I arrived at the restaurant at 4:00pm, parked and then proceeded to check in, via the site the text message sent me to, and put in my Curbside Space Number. The site said that my order would be out shortly.
Cut to 4:11pm, still no word or order coming out. Now, I know things get hectic, and that sometimes orders fall behind. 10 minutes is not a major deal. I'm patient when it comes to this sort of problem. This was not the case, though.
4:20pm rolls around... still no order, and I'm thinking something is wrong with the order. Maybe they had to remake something, or didn't have something. Were that the case, they'd have contacted me, or come out to my car to speak with me...
4:28pm... now I slightly frustrated, and am thinking that maybe they forgot me somehow, or gave my order to someone else, thinking it was me. So I decided to call and ask if there was an issue with the order. The woman who answered was pleasant enough, and when I told her I'd been waiting outside for nearly 30 minutes, she said she'd go check on the order. Another 5 minutes and she picks up once more to tell me the order is ready, asked me spot number, and that my order will be right out.
A woman, not sure if she was the manager or not, but she seemed to be, based on how she was dressed, arrives not even a minutes after I called, and then asks me, "You said you've been sitting out here?" I told her yes, since 4pm. She then proceeds to give a very general response of, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. No one saw you out here." I told her that I haven't moved my car and was contemplating going inside to check on things. She then asked me if I checked in, which I said I did on the site, given by the text, and even had shown her as proof, which she again said, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened."
Then proceeds to tell me that my order was ready, and was sitting in the heat window, and that she just bagged it herself, so "You're all good. It wasn't really sitting out or anything, and I just now bagged it (again telling me this)" and that there's nothing wrong and I'm all good. Then tells me to have a good day and goes back inside.
I get home slightly annoyed, by the slight feeling of being merely an inconvenience at least, but find that some of the order was wrong or missing. We'd paid for an extra dressing for my roommates' salad, and paid extra for one of our side items to be bacon-cheddar fries, which they are not. The food had clearly been sitting, unlike she said it "wasn't", as it was rather cold and lackluster, not the usual we'd gotten from this establishment.
Not sure of how a curbside service doesn't "see" you, when you check in, or how someone can just be like, "Sorry" and leave it at that, inside of trying to make things "right" for a customer. This was a $50+ order, and not the quality I expected, as per the usual from Cheddars. I'm truly disappointed at this lack of any concern for my order sitting there for 30 minutes, and my waiting just as long, when more attention should have been paid. This is a ridiculous and unacceptable way of handling a business. Whether I order again from here remains up in the...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped at this Cheddars to eat on our way to Evansville as we love the one in Lafayette. Much to our disappointment, our experience was one of the worst we've ever had at a restaurant.
When we arrived, we stood at the front desk and were not greeted for several minutes. We requested to be seated in the bar area and were told it was a 5-10 minute wait, which is fine. However, when we went to follow the hostess, she started to lead us in the opposite direction. I asked her about sitting in the bar area and she said "Oh, yeah, you can just go in there and pick a seat"
My friend and I walked in and picked on of the only clear table tops in the bar area, 3-4 of the other tables were covered in food/dishes waiting to be bussed. Those same tables were still dirty when we left after eating. That is not to say they were short staffed. . . . in fact approx. 5-7 waiter/waitresses spent the majority of the time sitting at or standing around the bar chatting and texting.
Waiting for a server to come, another customer had to approach the staff crowded around the bar to ask for their check. Our "server" never approached us, we were waited on by the bartender and she didn't use anything to write our order down. Both my friend and I ordered medium rare ribeye meals, nothing too complicated.
The croissants were incredibly dry and burnt, the food arrived and they gave me the wrong cut of steak (t-bone instead of ribeye), both steaks were well-done as opposed to medium rare and the two sides on both plates were not in separate dishes so the steak juices were all over the sides. The broccoli casserole was dry, the carrots were undercooked.
Once we were served our food, no one came to check on us again until handing us the check. And despite my friend asking for A1 sauce when the food was delivered, the bartender promptly forgot and I had to get up and get it myself.
When using the restrooms, I didnt even want to sit down - They were disgusting. The women's toiletry bins were overflowing on the floor and there was trash all over the floor. One of the stalls was covered in what I hope was water and not pee -
Overall, Im amazed. . . in the worst possible way. Train your staff to be more competent when it comes to food service, clean your restaurant & bathrooms, and have your chefs get retrained on how to cook a...
Read moreWaitress (Katie F) first argued with my friend about a drink, saying it didn't exist when she gets it there every time we go. Asked to check with bartender and it did in fact exist. I ordered a beer. She asked us if we were ready to order when we hadn't even looked at our menus yet or received our drinks. She brought back two mixed drinks. Hers was not the one she had ordered and I ordered a beer. She was obviously annoyed that we didn't want the drinks we didn't order. She ordered a salad and loaded nachos. I ordered pasta. Took forever and the restaurant was in no way busy. She brought back her salad, put it in front of me. Wasn't the salad my friend had ordered. She told her this and she said "okay" and ran away from our table. So we're sitting there wondering what that even means. We wait 15 minutes and she picks up the salad she doesn't want so she can hand it back to them at the bar and our waitress comes running back around with the correct salad, but in a to go box?? Brought our food. She wanted half chicken and half beef nachos, got only beef. She wanted salsa so asked another employee if he could find our waitress. She came back highly annoyed and told us that she had been serving a table of 13. At this point she was huffing at us. We asked for our checks. She literally dropped them down on the table. Realized after giving her our cards she had given us each the other's check. We were discussing this and she whipped around the corner and asked what was the problem now. We told her. She did offer to correct it but at that point its a minimal difference and we really just wanted to leave. She was unpersonable and awkward the entire time. She was obviously uncomfortable with serving, but she also had a terrible attitude. It was just one thing after another. At least my entree was right, even though I paid for my...
