On Sunday 12, June 2022, my family hosted a "Getaway Post Wedding Brunch" for my niece, her new husband, his family, and our family at the Cozy Table Restaurant, after having gotten the Screw Job over at the Graduate Hotel in Bloomington Indiana. Which in hind sight was a blessing in disguise. We were originally supposed to have the Brunch at the Graduate Hotel but they sold the space for another event and never even had the decency to call back and explain the situation even after having left messages for a call back, which never happened. Thus we were without a venue and I was calling other venues & other restaurants while I'm in Chicago trying to make accommodations to have the brunch. On or around May 10th, I was looking over the possible restaurant venues in Bloomington and came across the Cozy Table Restaurant. At the time, the restaurant had a 4.3/5 star rating and had nothing but positive comments about the food & service. I called the Cozy Table and asked the person who answered the phone whether or not they could/would take a party for about 26 guests on Sunday the 12th. The person who answered the phone was the Restaurants' proprietor Ms. Kelly. Ms. Kelly was very nice, very accommodating and said that she could welcome our party. I asked if she needed a credit card for a down payment and she said it was not necessary. On Friday 10, June, I called the restaurant again to confirm our reservation & Ms. Kelly assured me that we were all set to go. So on Sunday the 12th, we show up about 9:30 AM. The parking lot was full and the restaurant was filled with regular patrons. My family & I wait outside the Cozy Table, there are 3 parties ahead of us, there are patrons also waiting to pay. When we get to the front of the line which is also the Host stand & Cash Register station, Ms. Kelly ask me the standard question, "How many in your party?" I look at her and say 30. She realizes that I am the one who has called & made the reservation. She leads us to a part of the restaurant where several tables are already put together awaiting our arrival. Ms. Kelly introduces us to Ms. Elanor. Ms. Elanor will be assisting us with our brunch by taking the food & drink requests. Ms. Elanor is also very sweet, pleasant, adorable and so welcoming. While waiting for our other guests to arrive, my family & I have the pleasure of speaking with two of the Cozy Table "regulars" a man & his lovely wife who were both finishing up their breakfast. Both of them were also so warm and friendly and had wonderful things to say about the restaurant and the staff, I could have had hours of conversations with this couple who were so very nice. Eventually, our party shows up, everyone is still a glow from last night's wedding. Food & drink requests are taken, conversations around the table are light & jovial with many recollections about different aspects of yesterday's events, The food & drink arrive, in a very timely manner, I must add. Any & all additional requests were fulfilled straightaway. Both Ms. Kelly & Ms. Elanor were consistently checking in on the tables making sure all need were being met. It really felt like you were home & being well taken care of. Eventually, everyone had their share of great food & drink, so it meant we had to go. Other patrons were looking forward to the space we were occupying. Upon departing, I couldn't thank Ms. Kelly enough for welcoming us to her restaurant. Both her & Ms. Elanor were both just so warm and friendly and great to work with. I was sad to have to leave them. The kitchen staff also deserve mentioning because they do their job well & put out a good product in a timely manner. If you ever find yourself in Bloomington Indiana, and want a good home cooked style breakfast restaurant, you would not be disappointed with the Cozy Table Restaurant. AND if you want to host any kind of Brunch in a warm inviting atmosphere, this is a great venue that will not break your bank. And if you do, tell Ms. Kelly Francis from...
Read moreWe went to try this restaurant for the 1st time.we ordered a simple sandwich, salad and soup.Waitress was nice but seemed very stressed.I heard the owner snap at her a couple times.I minded my business and continued to wait on my order. Sandwich Came dry, ignored that we ate some of it.However the salad they brought me had so much water in the bottom of it it was uneatable! It made the salad dressing like water.I did not want another salad. I Asked if she would take the $3.00 uneatable salad off my bill and I would happily pay for the rest of the food that was really pretty dry and gross.I was nice when asking and the owner who then started yelling at me in front of the entire restaurant of people. Saying I'm not changing your bill! Saying, " I couldn't afford it" and that "I was probably in trouble with the law."whatever that means. Both of which not true and pretty rude of her to assume. I've never had such a bad experience over such a little issue most restaurants would gladly fix the problem. This lady is rude, crazy, unreasonable and unprofessional. She needs help and should not be in costumer service.she is a mean person who loved trying to humilite me infront of her other costumers just because I asked her to fix the problem.she said "I don't work for free!" I would never step foot back on this nasty restaurant with old dirty floors and a dog(the owners)running around the restaurant as I am eating. Unprofessional to say...
Read moreMy family visited the Cozy Table on 1/24/16. We had eaten there several times in recent years. Normally the food is passable with generous portions, but during our most recent trip, the experience was terrible. Every meal that included hot food was served cold. Upon further inspection we found the meat in our sandwiches to be gray (both beef and turkey).
At checkout we were asked how our meal was. We explained our disappointment in the food, and the cook was summoned from the kitchen. The first words out of his mouth in an angry tone were, "What's your problem?" After sharing our experience he said, "that's how it supposed to look, I just cooked it the other day." Without an apology he reached for our payment, ran the card and walked away.
Based on our previous experiences, we planned to give the Cozy Table another try until we met the cook. If the food is cold, old, and bland, the place can get a second chance. But if the cook is rude to us, we will go...
