Where do I start? I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner with a friend’s l family. They have been going since she was little with her grandmother and they have continued the tradition. I was excited to be with her family on this day. The room was beautiful it was easy getting to our table as we had a reservation for 12.
Food: terrible. The spinach artichoke dip tasted like wilted spinach was used. All the salad dressings were heavily vinegar based and watery. The dressing/stuffing was very dry. Even after a fresh pan was brought out it was still dry. The prime rib was simple, but good. The menu also seemed like a hodge-podge. Like bacon and waffles, no “breakfast” eggs so not brunch, but also corn, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, but also a tofu bake, lox and bagels, salad bar, fruit and shrimp cocktail. Speaking of the salad bar, I don’t know what the broccoli was blanched in but it had a weird flavor. Odd thanksgiving menu.
Desserts: The Carmel Apple cheesecake had a soapy aftertaste, the mini chocolate pies were ok, the apple cobbler was basic as well. I tasted the pecan pie (my friend got it) and it too was very basic. I’ve had better pre-made food from Kroger. I ended up getting a malted waffle and syrup for dessert.
I’ve worked in a restaurant for several years. I understand food prep and how things have to be made for a broad group of people. This really was terrible. Again, my friend has been going here for Thanksgiving for years and she even said this was the worst it had been. Sad part is, on the way home we joked about how bad it was and at ~$70 a plate, totally...
Read moreAfter visiting the Tudor Room many times over the past 8-10 years, I can now say I will never go back. I made arrangements for a family birthday brunch today and the entire experience was so disappointing. The buffet was about 1/3 of what it used to be, most of the food was bland and dried out. Many of the normal elements were missing (no hash brown casserole, no horseradish for the prime rib, no other meat options aside from dry bacon and sausage - how do you mess up bacon?!). Desserts consisted of tasteless cookies (it honestly seemed like the half cookie and scone I grabbed didn’t have any sugar in them), and store bought donuts. Service was below average, drinks took a long time and we got all our own refills from pitchers left in the room, our plates weren’t cleared until near the end of our meal, the server never came to check on us, bartender had a tip jar but we couldn’t order from him, etc. Just nowhere near what it used to be. Save your money and time and hit up a different, locally owned brunch spot. IU has clearly let...
Read moreVery disappointed in the Tudor Room Thanksgiving meal this year. We've been to a handful of them over the years. This year was subpar and they raised their price. The quality and variety just wasn't there. They used to have a cheese table with hard and soft varieties. Instead, this year they only had one plate with two hard cheeses next to three types of meat products: deli and slim jim meats. The appetizer table was very generic with pastries we could have gotten at Kroger. Pastries should go with desserts. The dessert table was just as generic. The layout of the place was awkward too. One poor couple had people lining up for the buffet inches from their table. Everyone was watching them eat. Everything just had a very generic food feel to it...like they bought it at Kroger and just placed it in front of us. This was our last year. Way too expensive for the quality. And they didn't have...
