We ate there New Year’s Eve. Food was delicious, but service was suboptimal (and that’s putting it lightly). Our server, Kaylin, clearly needed more training. She flat out lied many times to us. We asked for a glass for a beer and had to remind her after two returns to the table and she said she’s waiting because she’s not allowed behind the bar. After our food arrived, we reminded her about the two herbal teas we ordered when we first sat down and she lied again and said they were being made—then returned to the table 5 mins later to ask which flavor we wanted. She didn’t bring us any salads with our dinners or bread at all. It was literally just a plate of lasagna. She also brought my husband chicken piccata instead of Parmesan. We thought that this was just how it was made here, we ordered two more parms to go for family Members at home and she didn’t add them to the check. When asked about this she said she didn’t do it because we asked for the check before she had a chance to add them in. No idea in what World that makes sense. When she finally added them to the check it said chicken piccata, I told her that we asked for Parmesan and she said there was no more of that. I, then, asked is that why my husband got the piccata plate instead of Parmesan and she said yes. I said next time you should really tell the guest before assuming they’d be ok with whatever substitution you chose for them because he barely ate his food because he hates capers. By the way, when the to go orders came out, guess what? They were chicken Parmesan, crazy because I thought they ran out. When the time came to, finally, pay I gave her two cards and to make it easier I said just split it right down the middle. She charged one card the whole bill and brought us each the same receipt as if she was expecting each of us to fill out a tip (we did tip of course, we’re not savages). The other server, don’t even know her name thank God, was visibly so high on something it was ridiculous they let her work in that condition with her hair all disheveled and high over sized hoodie. The lead waitress had to keep giving her tasks to keep her busy. I know the service industry is suffering from lack of staff, this place is no exception which is sad because the food was actually good. Also, thank God we didn’t order pizza because the gentleman making the pizza was hacking up a lung...
Read moreWe ordered from here about a month ago and the food was pretty good so we brought the kids up to eat. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic that is spiking again we opted to call in a pick up order and do pizza at the park to practice social distancing while still taking the kids out to lunch. We were told point blank “their kitchen couldn’t accommodate any type of Togo” when I paused in confusion kind of waiting for an explanation it was met with irritation so I just said ok and we had to order from a couple doors down instead which we picked up 30min later and ate in the park where we were able to enjoy lunch and practice safe social distancing for our more at risk family members sakes....and before I didn’t hear for about them being busy, I will point out The first time we came here when there was almost nobody there we waited over half an hour for our food that was after waiting an extreme length of time to be seated. However we were not in a hurry this day and after spending almost 10 years managing restaurants the stuff usually does not bother me. When we drove by to pick up our to go order and again could see an empty patio I was just very confused. I’ve made a point of making sure to support smaller local restaurants and shops during this as I have spent a lot of my time working in them and building them as a professional. I don’t know if it not being able to do the to go order was as big of an issue as the irritation and non-explanation. I see a lot of reports from this restaurant explaining procedures but I also see several complaints also saying how they don’t seem to be busy and the problem still happen Which is probably more of an issue than an isolated incident. I have no way wish to take money away from these places but hopefully seeing a pattern will lead to new processes to illuminate issues So we can keep supporting...
Read moreMy wife, 1 year old and myself rented a cabin and decided to come to downtown Blue Ridge, pick up some food to bring back and eat. Upon arriving at Masseria we asked if we could make a to-go order. The waitress initially said yes but had to ask the Manager. She returned and indicated that they were too busy to accept a to-go orders. I asked her if we sat down, ordered and then left would that be a problem. She said no. I said okay we will do that and she indicated that there was an hour wait time to be seated, (it was not that busy as we walked right up and no one was in line). There was a two person table available and I said we would sit there and it would be no issue. She said that we could not sit there because there was a leak and water was leaking in that area. I said that was no problem as we could just wait outside and walk around instead of sitting down. At this point she started getting louder and i knew we would never get food here. Eating out with a young baby is hard on us and hard on everyone else around us. Oh yea, we are also in a world wide pandemic, (not the reason we didn't want to eat in). One would think one of the most vulnerable sectors in the world today would consider every customer as a valuable entity. We were not valued enough to be served. I do not see how it is good business to turn down paying customers, especially a to-go order as this requires less time and effort compared to a sit down customer. Anyways, we left and walked two minutes down the road and made a to-go order at a different restaurant. This place had a specific section for this action. We also tipped $10.... Lastly I have been to this restaurant multiple times as we are frequent visitors to Blue Ridge. The pizza is delicious. But, after an experience like this we will never be coming back to...
