Let’s rate it! @lets.rateit

Restaurant Name: @cocina53_ 235 S Bolingbrook Drive Bolingbrook, IL

Now a days it’s hard to find a good Mexican restaurant with live music especially Mariachi. After surfing through instagram, I came across @cocina53_ ad & asked the Tóxico Panzón if we could try it out for my birthday weekend

All I can say is, I will not go back. The prices were too high for what we received. One of the servers kept passing behind me so close with food and drinks that I literally thought he was going to bump into me. The restaurant management really needs to look into doing a different setup.

From the beginning, it took almost 10 minutes to have a server come to take our orders or even offer water which by the way we never got.

The salsas had no flavor at all and the drinks era like agua frescas instead of a cocktail that I even asked, if they gave me a non-alcoholic drink.

The food was sort of ok with its bit of flavor. The homemade tortillas were good which I have to give it to them.

If you decide to go, DON’T order the queso fundido w/steak because parecía que les venden el queso. It didn’t have no cheese at all and it’s a robbery for what they charge.

Also, no vayan con tanta hambre because they take forever to even get your order started.

Overall, we will not go back as it was a HUGE disappointment but we will still continue our search for a good Mexican restaurant w/live mariachi because this was not it.

Note: Mariachi was ok and I will leave at that.

Perla negra was good i came in today and Wow was i disapointed , to begin with it was cold in their , i ordered chilaquiles with steak and my boyfiend got quesabirias with no cheese , we had to ask for utensils because none were provided , the taste for both meals were not good the tortillas were sour no limes were provided for the consome, the only good thing was the aguas frescas, the server never asked if every thing was okay , this is a place i will skip and not waste money on. Update 6/21/25 I visited again but this time ordering with out tortillas , me and my boy friend ordered each a drink and pastas , me a salmón pasta him a green pasta , after 45 minutes we had to cancel the order ,people who came after got served first we waited too long paíd $28 for our 2 drinks and left . My coworkers wanted Mexican food for a team lunch of 20 people, and Cocina 53 delivered an authentic experience with a 2 days notice. The food arrived on time, hot, and there was plenty for everyone, many of us went back for seconds, and we still had leftovers.

The food was flavorful, and my coworkers couldn’t stop talking about it. The handmade tortillas were a standout, along with the variety of meats and sauces. It truly was authentic Mexican cuisine.

Customer service was also excellent. Cocina 53 was very flexible and accommodating, especially considering the logistics of delivering to an office in the City.

Highly recommend for any group or corporate lunch, we’ll definitely be ordering again!

Ordered off the catering menu; steak, chicken fajitas, and the office...

There’s good Mexican food and then there’s AMAZING Mexican food! This place is hands down the most authentic and flavorful Mexican restaurant I’ve had, definitely coming back with family and friends! Flavor, atmosphere, everything checks out! The drinks are amazing as well! I came here with my husband and we tried the gorditas de asada, elote, and molcajete tierra along with a mojito and cantaritos…everything was perfection. We’re excited to come back and try other things on the menu and we’re looking forward to trying their breakfast as well. 10/10 and bonus points for being close to us as well- makes it dangerously easy when we don’t have dinner plans! ☺️

I have to say that I was there for breakfast with my wife for very first time, and we both enjoyed this place. The food was good, she got the chilaquiles with eggs and the plate was very well balanced, not too much chilaquiles, it was a good portion, the plate had white rice 😋 whit beans, again rice and beans with the right portion. Some places only serve the chilaquiles and eggs and that’s it. Too much tortillas from my point of view. The service was great. If you are looking for a new place to have breakfast you need to try this one.
