Hungry Howie's Pizza — Restaurant in Boone

My boyfriend and I went to Hungry Howie's Pizza in Boone, NC at around 8pm, March 26th, 2024, and we ordered the stuffed Howie bread (stuffed with pepperoni), the bacon chicken ranch large pizza (with ranch seasoned crust), the 20 CT. BBQ boneless wings, along with a water and a soda drink.

We spent ~50 dollars for ill prepared food, and for my boyfriend to be confined entirely to the bathroom this morning. We've had positive experiences at Howies previously, but after last night and this morning, I don't believe we will ever go again.

I start this more detailed review of the food products by explaining that we were hungry, tired, and had a really long day, so we didn't feel like waiting another half hour and having them remake our food.

The Howie Bread was undercooked with the ends being very, very doughy. The middle section (about a grand total of half of the Howie bread) was fine, and tasted quite good.

The boneless 20ct wings were supposed to be tossed in barbecue sauce, but instead we only got so much of a glob of sauce on like 3 of the wings. My boyfriend took them back to the guy up front and asked if they could toss them. They gave him some more sauce, but said they didn't have a tosser and couldn't toss it. Which we know not to be the case because we've gotten wings here before. They might not have a tosser, but they've tossed the wings somehow before. We asked later if the guy was newer, and because he wasn't I can only assume it was laziness. My boyfriend tried to toss his own wings, and ate them. He said they were fine, just aggravated that they didn't toss them like they did last time.

The pizza was the best of the three, however the seasoning of ranch on the crust was a mistake. They had half the pizza not coated at all, and the other half of the crust was white. The seasoning tasted like sheer salt, and nothing like anything ranch flavored. Obviously that's not that big of a deal, we just didn't eat the crust. It's just dissapointing that after everything prior it once again shows laziness and lack of consideration that we spent 50 dollars for a meal.

I'm unbelievably disappointed in Hungry Howies right now. I know they can and have done better, but last night's food was nothing short of...

Second time ordering here. First time, take out was perfect. This time ordered delivery. My hotel was .2 miles away from the store however didn’t want to get out. I ordered two medium pizza, boneless wings, dessert sticks and a 2 liter. My order was accepted from Uber Eats immediately. The driver for Uber eats re routes the food on two separate occasions. It took well over an hour to get it and that’s being generous. I tipped 15$ roughly and some change.

Upon arrival I didn’t receive my 2 liter and the driver didn’t care. Then I realized why. Got to my room and the pizza was cold, wings were cold and the dessert pizza was hard. My guess is that this is completely a 3rd party issue because before the food was great. Not from NC but from Nashville, I was disappointed to say the least. I did try to go through Uber eats that evening but they refused to even reach out until today, three days later and then asked for a 2nd photo of our order. I apologize I didn’t keep my food for three days and bring it back to Nashville with me as they were suggesting I should have. Long story short. Great place great friendly and quick service. Great pizzas calzones and bread sticks or cheese sticks. Good and fast service. Very clean place and great for any family to eat at that has kids or grandkids. Our little red headed grandson Waylon loves to eat here. He loves the food the pizza cheese of course for him and either or both breads the regular ones and the cheesy ones. Always with lots of sauce. He loves the marinara sauce there. He loves to get it and stay and eat it inside. This new place s really great. Close to the campus up here. We think they will really do great here.
