We were told 25 minutes but waited about 45 minutes to be seated. I didn't mind this though, I could clearly see they were understaffed and lacking servers. Once seated, after another wait, our server came and took our full orders. After another long wait the food finally arrived to mixed reviews. The appetizer, fried pickle spears, were quite tasty and cooked nicely. My husband ordered potato salad with his Reuben and received an underwhelming macaroni salad. His Reuben was excellent though. My son ordered these kids pizza and refused to eat it because of the huge chunks of tomatoes in the sauce. My husband tried it and said he didn't blame him, the tomatoes were too much. I ordered a cheeseburger cooked well, it arrived pink and wet in the middle to the point where I could not eat it. The best thing about this place was the cinnamon roll. Unfortunately... Too late, I realized that the ladies wearing gloves while making, baking, handling and plating the cinnamon rolls at the front of the restaurant were the same ladies that were wearing gloves while hostessing and those were the same ladies wearing gloves while cleaning and bussing tables. They changed their gloves not one single time moving from operation to operation. So the same gloves used to spray cleaning solution on a table were the same gloves passing out and collecting menus were the same gloves handling the cinnamon rolls. Yikes! And yuck.

We had a late lunch last Friday while traveling through the high country as leaf peepers. We were a party of two and got lucky with parking out front and waited less than 10 min. We were seated in a big booth in the bar area and were greeted by a smiling, friendly bartender named Madeline. She answered all our questions and gave us time to read the menu. We started with the Bang Bang shrimp. It was piping hot, fresh, huge and delicious, served with ranch dressing. Next up was Mom's Ceasar salad with more fresh grated cheese on top than they gave me in Italy. The dressing was amazing. You can tell they are all housemade. Our meals came out in perfect timing and they were big portions. Mom ordered the grilled chicken alfredo with fresh broccoli and penne pasta, all cooked to perfection with a generous side of tasty garlic bread. I ordered the Buffalo fried Crazy Chris wrap with fries (and I was delighted at how fluffy, crispy and tasty they were) Perfectly seasoned and sauced, I also got a side of bleu cheese for dipping the wrap. Yummy. We had read reviews for so many places and decided each visit is different. We weren't disappointed at anything. Great food, Covid friendly, nice atmosphere and clean. No tourist trap here! We will be back. Home is 2 hours away.

I visited here while on a mini vacation because it was recommended. The restaurant was extremely understaffed. One poor girl was hosting, waiting tables, and even looked like she was attending to the bar. The menu looked great and looked like there were many things to choose from but I decided to go with a classic grilled cheese sandwich and fries. I mean who doesn’t love an ooey gooey grilled cheese on a chilly day in the mountains? Well if you do, DO NOT get one from here! I honestly was shocked she brought the sandwich to our table with the way it looked and there was 2 of them because a 3 year old wanted one too. I have never seen such an awful grilled cheese! It was 2 pieces of toast with burnt cheese on each side pushed together. See pictures please! Needless to say, me nor the 3 year old could even stomach to eat it. The waitress was nice and apologized and took the meal off my check. I honestly felt bad for her! The other 2 adults with me said their food was okay, but overall was not a good dining out experience. Hopefully that day was just a fluke(about 3 weeks ago) and they have since gotten some more help and taught a new cook how to make a grilled cheese.

We are leaving a review for 1 star because our waitress was nice and really did make an effort to be as helpful as possible. BUT the rest of the experience was (to say the least) frustrating and unacceptable. We first arrived at roughly 2:20 p.m. and were given two tables to cover our party of ten. Drink orders were taken for our table, but the hostess never told the waitress that the table next to us was a part of our group (as they arrived a few minutes after us). After she learned this, which was after bringing our first round of drinks, she proceeded to take their drink orders. At this point, we've been sitting in the restaurant for about 35 minutes. When the time comes to do food orders, she realizes that no one ever brought menus for either table. So tack on another ten or fifteen minutes for getting those, making decisions and waiting for the waitress to return. We placed an order at 3 p.m. Appetizers took maybe 10 or 15 minutes to come out - good timing. At 4:15 p.m., I made a visit to the bar to ask someone to check on our order. I'd like to take a moment to point out that the restaurant was NOT full by any stretch of the imagination. It was actually the deadest Macado's I've ever been to. The bartender says that he will go hunt down our food and it does finally come out at about 4:30 p.m. The waitress apologizes, stating that all the managers have disappeared to unknown parts and there's only one guy working in the kitchen to make all the orders and he was new (as was she). She also opened with "So all these fries are going to be cold," we assume because the food was just kind of sitting back there, "but we've got hot fries coming out in a minute." The group as a whole didn't blame the waitress. If the managers had been there, then someone could have helped cover the kitchen, ensure that staff was paying attention for orders or just actually managing the restaurant in general. Half of us ended up eating just enough to make it worth the visit and taking the rest home. Ironically, as we were getting our checks, the managers suddenly reappeared. We should have talked to one, both, however many of them, to ask why we weren't getting some sort of discount, apology, something. Let me reiterate, the waitress attempted to make the experience as pleasant as possible, but I have to question whether hiring managers that disappear for what seems to be hours at a time to let staff fend for themselves and mind the shop is a sound business decision. Even as Macado's enthusiasts, visiting them whenever we find them, we would be very reluctant to return to the Boone...

I'm gonna just start this review with this idea here...how about we call this place Maca-don't. Went there this past Saturday with some family. I'm local I know better but they wanted to see King street, So let's go... We got there about 3pm, in between lunch and dinner. Place was pretty empty. Host seats us out on the patio. Ideal for people watching if that's your gig. Some 15minutes after we're seated Samuel our server finally arrives at the table. I think he took so long to get to the table because he was helping Motley Crue unload their equipment next door? Long greasy looking hair all over the place, not pulled back. Wearing a dirty sleeveless t-shirt, sleeves cut off. Both of these are health code violations, good job management we enjoyed seeing his bare chest thru the gaping arm holes. And then our crappy service began. It was another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. 6 people, and homeboy brings 3 straws... We wait another 40 minutes for the food to arrive. In this time a 4 top sits down next to us and waits for 15 minutes before getting up and leaving because no one ever visited the table. Our food finally arrives and Samuel the roadie (maybe let out of the dish pit to help out on the floor- IDK) forgets to bring any silverware or napkins. We ask for both and some ketchup. We get 3 napkins and 4 forks.... for a six top mind you. After we wait another 5-6 minutes for him to return with enough napkins or silver ware, I get up and go inside to ask the bartender. She's too busy having a rant session with two other servers to see me. Finally they disperse and I ask for the silverware and napkins and she tells me "I don't have enough of those here..." and then goes back to her one and only bar patron. So I grab a handful of the cocktail napkins there at the bar and return to eat my food. The food was good. Service not so much. When we left I tried to ask the host if there was a manager on duty, she just looked at me and then answered a phone. It was all together a pretty bad experience. I have no idea what happened behind the scenes for this experience to be this bad but, wow. It'll be a while...

Ownership has some work to do. Understaffed and not much attention. Sitting at the bar three of the first visible tvs and projector do not work so watching a game on the closest working TV about 15 ft away. There is a projector to the left that has been "overheating" for over an hour and cooling down, the next two TVs over the bar do not work and show no working picture, the third tv at the other end of the bar works. If the only tv was this far away it would be one thing, but to have to pass over 3 other tvs before you get to the working one shows oversight. This is an ownership issue, not service. Boone location. EDIT: Going to go ahead and drop this down to 1 star. Side for the entree was wrong which happens but between going from my bar seat to the computer the server forgot what I asked for and put in the wrong side so not a kitchen mistake. The server did attempt to charge for the ranch that was order and not received so really not sure what goes on here on Sundays as far as management. The beer was cold, so that is good. If you are the kind of person who wants to sit at a bar and have your empty glass looked at a few times over (two bartenders serving with about 7 patrons at the bar at any time over a few hours) for 5 or so minutes while you wait to be asked if you want another one this place may be for you. I have been here a few times and never even write reviews but someone really should know that (on Sundays at least) you should spend your money elsewhere as it was all I could do to leave a 10% tip and was the lowest tip I have left in my 5 years in Boone. I guess I am writing this just because I feel like I just wasted $30 and a few hours and wanted to validate what I consider to be a low tip left for poor experience. Budget cuts saving for working tvs maybe. One more edit: After looking at the most recent reviews, this place is not somewhere that will exist too much longer and my experience lines up with most of theirs. Poor all around, if there is a new owner they should rethink their current direction or sell to someone who has even a little experience in the industry as they are about to take a nice lesson in the downsides to...
