My little family and I ate here a few days ago. We arrived about an hour before closing due to traffic (or else we would have been there sooner). Other people were coming in, so that was a plus to feel like we weren't the only ones coming in a little late. First off... you order your food at the counter. The atmosphere is beautiful and I love how spacious the place is. The staff? No words to explain how amazing, kind, sweet, and wonderful they all were. I've never been anywhere else where the staff was that exceptionally friendly. Ordering was easy and quick. We sat ourselves.
The jam/jelly and butter bar was amazing!! Such a great variety to choose from. I sampled each butter and jam/jelly even though I've definitely had basic jelly and strawberry jelly (lol). Talk about delicious!!! The convenience of your own coffee and to-go boxes and lids and cups was a definite bonus!
The only reason I am rating 4 stars is because the food wasn't hot. Everything was legit 4/10 warm except for my fried chicken that came with my waffle, and that was about a 6. Everything was pretty good, but I did not like the warmth level, the fact that my waffle was falling apart at nothing, and that I was given a jalapeno biscuit when I ordered a butter biscuit! I love jalapeños, but I did not want a jalapeno biscuit with my gravy. The gravy lacked, but I added salt and pepper to help with that. Not a lot of people like salt and pepper, so I get that they went easy on it. The gravy was about a 7. I have had better. I really wanted to use the butter on my waffle, but where the waffle was barely warm, I couldn't. Then there was the issue where the assistant manager said her bottle of honey mustard exploded (in which I noticed some of it on the chicken and told her it was not a problem because there was not much on top) as she was shaking it. That was okay until I noticed a large puddle of the honey mustard under my waffle. I do not want HM on my waffle! I am sorry! Was the honey mustard amazing? Oh yeah, but I didn't like that. But, accidents happen and it was too close to closing time to even make a complaint about our food. I warmed up my biscuit the next day instead of eating it at the restaurant, and it was wonderful. It just didn't hit the spot as it did at home because it wasn't warm.
We enjoyed our first experience in a lot of ways, but I doubt we will drive another hour and 15 minutes just to eat here again. I wish the food had been hot, and then 5 stars would have been awarded to this place, but that just wasn't the case. I think things would have been better had some of the food been brought out one at a time so that we could slowly but surely enjoy a hot meal.
Thank you for the wonderful service,...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our food this morning at Vicious Biscuit Boone. The wait was very long, our fault for arriving at the beginning of peak hours--around 10 a.m. on a Saturday. We waited in line 30 minutes to place our order, received a number, and waited another 30 minutes for our food. The cashier was friendly and helpful (and patient with "newbies"); her only misstep was offering my husband a "Vicious Mary" made with Jameson whiskey or Kahlua because they ran out of vodka. Yuck! When the food arrived, they delivered only three of our five items ordered. We asked wait staff twice for our missing items and were told the kitchen was too backed up. Final two items were delivered about ten minutes later. We ordered The Vicious (the best of what we sampled--maple sausage gravy on chicken and biscuit are not to be missed), Nashville Hot Chicken (tasty but we all liked Vicious better), Skully Squad Special (ho-hum and like other breakfast bowls), and a side of potatoes (good but nothing special). We sampled a few items from the Butter Bar; blueberry jalapeno jam and maple bourbon butter were outstanding. I could have eaten them both off a spoon but saved part of my biscuit to sample them. Completely worth the calories and amount of walking to work them off! It's a bit pricey for not being a full-service restaurant and for the time we waited. Food quality was very good, though, and portions were generous. We agreed that when we are in Boone, if we are there during off-peak hours, we would definitely return. In addition to enjoying another Vicious biscuit, there are other menu items we are interested in trying. (Sorry for the somewhat gross picture of a half-eaten biscuit, but I wanted to post something to give an idea of portion size. I was so hungry I forgot to snap a picture when the food first arrived. I'll do...
Read moreWe ate there on 8.26 and tried the biscuits, gluten-free biscuits, chicken and waffle dishes, and cold brew. Unfortunately the gluten-free biscuits had no flavor (kinda used to that though with GF just expected more out of a biscuit place) and were raw in the middle. Coffee was bitter but hey it's coffee. It is loud, but a good vibe for people who like that. NOW THE REAL ISSUE.. Tried several butters and jams unfortunately the blackberry jam was Rancid and I had given it to my 9 year old son first before I tried it. He finished his before I had a bite and instantly tasted the alcohol. I didn't realize I needed to taste test my son's food for poison when eating out now. When I alerted staff they brushed it off other than telling me that they would replace it on the bar and basically told me it was a thing that happened. While I appreciate the very quick response to the other patrons review that had the same issue, you guys are fantastic at replying to reviews and I would expect nothing less. However, this does seem to be the way things are run even at other locations as my friend had a similar experience in Charleston recently. Although the quality used to be pretty good (I'm very picky about where I go to eat), standards have plummeted. Unfortunately I think a lot of people are more used to having GI issues and don't realize when they are being poisoned. Eat at your own risk. It's nearly a week later and my stomach is still a mess, let alone my kids and quite frankly it is the only possible reason. I work in healthcare and have actively been seeking treatment and am still a mess. I can't imagine how many people got sick from this restaurant not realizing it because it looks good and mostly...
