Don's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Boonton

The food was very good. Sloppy joes are absolutely phenomenal. Ruben was amazing. Subs were completely on par. The rye used for the sloppy joes and Reubens was soft and flavorful and not overbearing. The sub rolls were quite soft which made for a pleasant surprise. Personally I don't like rolls that are too hard or crusty that obliterate the roof of your mouth. The bread here is exceptional.

Owners were so pleasant and thoughtful. Catered to my many requests because I wanted to try a little bit of everything. They make mini sandwiches here as well so it makes it easy to sample a lot. Despite living in the area for longer than the 42 years that this shop has existed in its current location, this was my first time visiting.

We were excited to try this place, but before we were even greeted, we overheard a customer speaking with the owner about recent political events. When we walked in, the customer turned to us and said, “Let me stop talking before I get THOSE PEOPLE riled up.” implying we were on the opposite side of their views based on how we look? Instead of shutting this down, the owner laughed along and still didn’t acknowledge us. This was extremely unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. We left immediately without ordering. Don's is located on Main Street in Boonton and is one of Boonton's many hidden gems when it comes to quality food and great customer service. Far from being a chain sandwhich shop, Don's is a must stop whenever you are craving a good sandwich in the area. Stop searching for other lunch contenders and stop in or call in your order.
