Not my first time to eat here, but the food was (and always is) incredible! I usually get the Big Easy drink (10/10), the spinach dip (10/10), BJ Boudin poboy (10/10), and jambalaya (10/10)! I feel like the portion sizes are perfect and fill you up! However, I don’t recommend making a large party reservation here. I called earlier in the week to see if they had availability for a 30 person reservation, which they confirmed they did and could accommodate. Then I received a call the next day, I assume from a manager, just to confirm the number of people and to state that 30 mins after the reservation time if people weren’t sitting at the table, they would start taking away tables and chairs that weren’t sat at (which is 100% not a problem for me, because I expected everyone to be there by then). For the rest of the week I called to confirm 3 more times just to make sure the 30 person reservation was still okay, which I was told every time I was all set for a 30 person reservation. However, when I arrived yesterday to the restaurant, the table we were guided to only had 20 seats. When I asked the waitress if more was going to be added, she stated “we had other reservations tonight this is the best we can do.” After explaining that I had older guests coming that couldn’t sit at the bar and explaining that I had called 5 times this week and was confirmed that they could sit my party FULLY, I needed those tables. Thankfully the waitress (Molly I think her name was) grabbed an extra table or two and put together. However, she was incredibly rude to me the rest of the night but that was only to me, she provided excellent service to the rest of the guests and that’s great! I'm a year late on this review, but I give it 5 stars because 4 is way too low. Realistically this was a 4.5 for me. I had the loaded up Pepperjax Mac. Great flavor, and a pretty decent price for what you get just not a very large portion and I'm a hungry guy especially after being in planes and airports all day. It was good enough and at a reasonable enough price that I went ahead and ordered a second to fill myself up. I do recommend it, but if you have a large appetite, just know you'll probably still be hungry on a single serving. Also of note, when they ask you if you want bread, you do get charged for it which was a surprise for me when the bill came as I did not see that noted on the menu. Not that it was expensive, but most places do not charge when offering side bread so it was a bit of an "oh, ok" moment. Seating was difficult which speaks to how popular this place is. Thankfully there was a spot outside, which no one was utilizing as it was a chilly night by Louisiana springtime standards, but it was substantially warmer than when I left Minnesota the day before. In a beautiful building with brick walls, great lighting, and a nice vibe, I was ready for some terrific food. My husband's chicken po'boy was pretty good. I ordered the Shrimp and grits. What I got was watery grits with a brown sauce that tasted like vomit. The sauce was ATROCIOUS! The shrimp, if you scraped the brown sauce off, tasted like they could be delicious, but that sauce! I love shrimp and grits. I've eaten a few versions, including a few that taste like heaven. I have never eaten any that had sauce that tasted like vomit before. Service was great, prompt, and friendly. Ambience was great. The live entertainment was bearable. That sauce though.....it tasted like something you'd scrape off the bottom of your boot!.... HORRIBLE. I hadn't eaten much all day and came terribly hungry. I left, unable to get that taste out of my mouth and decidedly not hungry.
