What can I say? I am a sucker for a good cup of tea - and guess what? There are more than one types of teas to fill that cup! There are some reviews on here that poo-poo the disposable cup for the tea tasting, and honestly, I get it - it makes it seem less "fancy" but now you can take that hot cup of tea on the go. You can fill her up, no problem. And if you run into a situation where you need a new cup because you need more tea, they are happy to give you a new one - actually ALL of them are so happy to help you out. It was so pleasant to be around such positive people that seemed genuinely glad to be there. My husband and I got two tea flights (again, delicious variations - and the smokey black tea, while not my favorite, was rather tasty with some cream), he got a caramel apple cookie (it was so sweet and crisp at the same time), and I got a blueberry scone with a sweet cream (cream and jam are readily available in the fridge section, so anyone saying they don't have it is lying - also it was super delicious). I got my tea flight with the souvenir mug and handed it to me pre-wrapped (what an amazing deal for 5 bucks more, and the cup is so cute). We sat off to the side where I noticed one of the workers greeting the other staff in proper "of the time" manner, and she.... she was the highlight. Newly Mrs. Sarah was so cheery and helpful, she explained the teas and commented on her favorite, and joined us in some pleasant conversation (it was so early that we were the only one's there at the time, so it was such a quiet and lovely moment). She then brought over an "old timey" game and explained it to us, we played it in the distance and she checked in with us time to time - never making it feel like we were a bother, or that talking to us was apart of some "work duty," she was so genuine in how she interacted, even with other patrons as they came in. Sarah, if you read this, thank you - I hope your employers recognize your care and heart for what you do and how uniquely special you made us feel. I can get tea anywhere, but you, you were...
Read moreJust in case you're looking for a place to do an afternoon tea, with little sandwiches and cakes, this is NOT what you're looking for. You can buy tea and scones from the walk-up counter. Several types of scones on the menu, and they were pretty tasty. Self serve tea from big urns. Of course it was fairly pricey for self service food. We went on a warm and pleasantly humid day and sat outside. We could watch bits of the tours from above. It was a gorgeous view and on a nice day it's a beautiful spot to hang out, watching the activity in the harbor. They offer 5 or 6 different teas that would have been available at the time of the Boston Tea Party, so that was pretty cool - I liked one variety enough to buy some to take home. This place has both a big gift shop and offers tours by costumed guides, who also work the tea room to engage with you and answer questions. I would go back again for the excellent tea and the wonderful views from the outside seating area, but if I wanted an 'afternoon tea' experience I would...
Read more$4.81 will get you a bottomless cup of five of the teas thrown into the river during the Boston Tea Party!
I love the artifacts and facts lining the walls, and the tapestries and chairs and floors which give the impression of stepping back in time.
The ramp up made it quite accessible(minus the lack of automatic doors, as those were quite heavy).
The souvenir shop has so many fun varieties of quality teas!!!!
I didn’t go to the museum, as there were an awful lot of kiddos today, but it was super fun and affordable just to grab tea and visit the shop (I got M21 tea, Oliver and Pluff tea, and Eastern Shore tea from the shop).
Highly recommend!!!
If you do come by wheelchair or walker, be very careful and aware of the joints in the bridge!!!! They are very deep!
There isn’t much parking, so this place is best approached by T, but with a handicapped sticker I was able to get a spot down by the Hood Milk Container in...
