I got a pretty disappointing haircut, which is unfortunate considering the salon’s perfect rating and stellar reviews. The first 3 photos show the haircut I received and the last photo is what I showed the stylist. I warned the stylist that my hair is fine and thinning in case the cut could not be replicated on my hair type but she assured me not to worry. I wanted it to be edgy and dramatic but I feel the stylist missed the mark. She was pretty conservative with hair length so I had to keep checking the back of my head and ask for it to be cut shorter to mimic the reference photo. The undercut was not styled well (no taper or fade or shape to the edges) and just looks unfinished. Everything was just OK until the very end when she started to texture my hair after the blowout. I already have thinning hair and she took off way too much from the ends. Now I am left with 2 chunky layers with the longer layer being a few wispy hairs left, not to mention that the right and left sides look very uneven (please see photos). My hair looks even thinner at the ends than before. Not sure how this can be fixed unless I wait for it to grow out. I added one star for the nice scalp massage and the bangs...
Read moreGreat service and cut and color from SAM GRADY, great products and, if the prices seem expensive, it's because this is a TIP FREE salon!
I wandered in one day because my old stylist retired and I had't been happy with my hair for a year or more. I was loyal to the salon because they used Goldwell products, which (I thought) were the best products for my hair choosing between Wella and l'oréal, which most salons use. The Davines products at LAMS are so much better!! More moisturizing and 2-3 times longer lasting too!
I'm glad I made the leap of faith and tried these products and let Sam give me a haircut. She was a great listener, and did a great job on the cut, as well as the color, which was needed to cover some brassy, dried out highlights. I thought I was just going to have to cover the highlights and waste 300 bucks just to get back to normal hair, but Sam was able to preserve the dimension of the highlights while making the color much richer and quite natural looking.
So, even though I paid a little more, (maybe 40 bucks over the old place), 1.) I actually got a good haircut and color, 2.) the color will last 2-3 times longer 3.) No additional 20...
Read moreBriana did a mini foil on me and it came out better than expected! I have never had my hair dyed before but Briana acted transparently throughout the process. She asked follow-up questions every step of the way and was very precise in open communication/active listening.
Back in July I got a major cut at Newbury St. salon but the hairstylist made uneven front pieces (also getting water down back during the wash). Briana reassured me that it would be an easy fix and managed to even out the back which I didn’t initially notice. Briana’s professionalism was the best in that she went above & beyond to check in even when it was simple as water temperature (didn’t get any water below the neck at all). At the end also got hair curled into cute flowy waves (only received simple blow dry at other salon).
Every stylist here was super warm/welcoming - whereas the Newbury salon was shamelessly offering shampoo samples in order to receive 5...
