While browsing my e-mails I noticed Groupon offered me an awesome deal of $10 off a purchase of $25+. The original price of the Moonlight Cruise for 2 was $28, which is very good by itself! I also checked on the website and it looks like the regular retail price is $22 per person. I seized this steal deal and vowed I would NOT wait until the last minute again to use the voucher (with the end of August expiration looming).
The process to book the reservation with the Groupon was very easy, I just called the number listed for Mass Bay Lines and told them the deal I had and for how many. I only called them about 4 days prior to the Friday I made the reservation. We checked in around 8:20PM with Mass Bay lines (they initially forgot to give us actual boarding passes) and they marked the Groupon as redeemed. Since we had some time to kill, my SO and I grabbed some food at the Starbucks outside of the Rowe's Wharf arch. The lines starting to form were a little confusing since there were also multiple party boats setting sail at the same time. Also we had to re-check-in to get the paper tickets.
The Massachusetts boat was fairly large with 2 levels. There are plastic and wooden benches on both sides of the boat along with indoor seating a bar. When we went the cruise was not very crowded so we could switch sides and walk along the boat as we pleased on upper level. We caught the tail end of the summer sunset and saw the beautiful Boston skyline on our relaxing cruise. The entire cruise lasted for about 90 minutes and while we were farther out on the water we heard the blaring sound of a Hip-hop and Rock Party boat flanking ours from either side. Despite the brief interruption I had a very pleasant time on the cruise and I would definitely like to try the sunset cruise...
Read moreThe Grateful Dead tribute cruise was a decent value for the money (about $16.00 per ticket), but the boat was absolutely dirty. The tables didn't seem to have been wiped down for months. Also, because the cruise was WAY oversold, the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd was cramped, hot and constantly shoving each other to get around. What didn't help the situation was the SINGLE bartender at each of the 2 bars. Getting a beer was literally a 35-minute ordeal. Furthermore the sole food source seemed to be cold hot dogs, and because there was one personal, home-size hot plate heating them up, they were constantly out and after a 35-minute beer wait you had to wait another 15 minutes for hot dogs, which I took only slightly warmed, because my girlfriend and I were starving after 2 hours of standing in line. Even when we got them, they just left a big unopened tub of mustard on the counter, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to use that. Essentially, the theme of the night was standing in line: Stand in the will-call line, stand in the line to get on the boat, stand in line to get patted down by security guards who look like they might mug you, stand in line for beer, stand in line for cold hot dogs. We ended up finding the place to be up on the bow, where we could actually breathe a bit, and overall we had a pretty good time. Just be prepared to get what...
Read moreMy friend and I recently took a 90-minute sunset cruise with Massachusetts Bay Lines in Boston, Massachusetts, and it was a fantastic experience. We started the cruise at 6:30 PM, and the captain provided us with historic insights and an overview of the Boston port area and city skyline. The views were absolutely stunning as the sun began to set, casting a beautiful glow over the water and the city. The atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for unwinding after a busy day.
One of the highlights of the cruise was the opportunity to access the lobby for snacks or drinks if needed, which added to the overall convenience and enjoyment of the trip. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed for a comfortable experience. The combination of the scenic views, informative commentary, and the peaceful ambiance made this sunset cruise a memorable and enjoyable outing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience Boston from a unique...
