Would give this place a 3.8. Had read about this place on some food blogs and decided to go for their dine out boston week ($55 for app, entree, dessert).
Ambiance was nice, cool lighting and wide open space with lots of chic yet rustic vibes. We sat in the back room with glass walls which gave us a nice view of the place yet also felt intimate and personal, despite being near other tables. Noise level was good and the mood felt trendy without being obnoxious.
In terms of actual food, 3/4 of us opted for the pita meze appetizer which comes with spicy feta, tzatziki, and babaganoush. My favorite was the spicy feta—the other two dips weren’t bad but lacked flavor-i feel like we have had better, richer tzatziki from fast casual places like Saloniki. The pita was fine, warm but felt like it either could’ve been crispier or softer—it was sort of an in between texture that made it feel somewhat stale. I also didn’t appreciate the server advising us against ordering so much of the meze, felt condescending. One of us got the carrot appetizer which was both beautiful and delicious, with a yogurt dill sauce and crispy parsnips on top.
Service was honestly pretty slow but we didn’t mind because we were in good company. Felt like it took 20min between the time they asked if we were ready for our main course and the time they cleared our first dish. 2/4 of us got the 6oz steak, and then the others got the swordfish and the eggplant. Everything came out with a beautiful presentation, especially the swordfish! My eggplant tasted fresh, creamy, and had a great farm to table feeling, but i am glad i tried this during restaurant week as it really does not feel like a big enough portion for an entree (it is one thick slice of eggplant without any sides, about the size of an average avocado toast). But everything on top of it was flavorful and blended well together.
Swordfish got the best reviews at the table. Steak was fairly unevenly cooked, especially for our pregnant friend who ordered medium (most of it looked pretty rare, with some pieces that were obviously barely cooked). Potatoes were crispy and a good texture but unevenly seasoned with some being flavorful and others bland. The veggies that came with steak (specifically carrots) were very fresh and well cooked though!
For dessert, 3/4 of us tried the baklava and one got mango sorbet. I actually liked the sorbet the best, but it was small. The baklava was an interesting take on traditional baklava but felt like it was pretty bland and missing the honey that makes baklava so distinct in flavor and texture. It was more of a dry lasagna of phyllo dough with sweet yogurt sauce which wasn’t bad but wasn’t anything special. Beautiful presentation though!
Overall, we all agreed this was ~3.8-3.9 (the carrots, swordfish, eggplant brought up the score). Glad to have sampled during restaurant week, would not necessarily return as portions are small, pricey, and nothing exceptional. Best part of the meal was probably the ambiance (minus the bathroom—you hhave to walk down an extremely dark hallway to then be blinded by bright lights in the bathroom that don’t fit the vibe) and...

Trade, located in the heart of Boston, is a standout Greek-Mediterranean restaurant that delivers an elevated dining experience from start to finish. I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and every detail—from the ambiance to the plating—was thoughtfully executed.
The evening began with the Baked Feta in Phyllo, a perfectly balanced appetizer featuring warm, creamy feta wrapped in crisp phyllo, paired with roasted grapes, olives, pistachios, sesame, and a touch of honey. It was both comforting and complex—an ideal start to the meal.
For the main course, I chose the Beef Wellington in Homemade Phyllo. This unique Mediterranean take on a classic dish was outstanding. The 9oz filet mignon was tender and flavorful, wrapped in flaky, golden phyllo and served with garlic butter, a red wine demi-glace, and Joyberry Farms mushrooms. It was cooked to absolute perfection, and the timing of service ensured it arrived at the table hot and fresh.
To finish, the “Dubai Chocolate” Pistachio Cheesecake was a showstopper. The rich pistachio cream, delicate milk chocolate kataifi, strawberries, and smooth chocolate ice cream came together in a beautifully plated, indulgent dessert.
Our server was excellent—friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They offered great recommendations and maintained perfectly timed check-ins, striking a balance between attentiveness and space.
Trade is ideal for both an intimate date night or a business dinner, given its refined setting and prime location. The wine selection is impressive, offering thoughtful pairings for every dish.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a sophisticated meal with Mediterranean flair in one of Boston’s...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience!!! An extreme joy from start to finish! The staff here are so kind, attentive and thorough. From being greeted, seated, to our table being wiped and cutlery being changed between dishes served was just impeccably high standards. The drinks were finely crafted and extremely creative! The bartenders truly knew what they were doing. The zero proofs were delicious too. I had the peach lemonade with mint. I could taste the fresh peach nectar and lemon. For only $6 it was an absolute steal. Thoroughly impressed but then there was the food. There was not one thing that we could say that was mediocre, everything was delicious, elevated to stunning perfection. Octopus with polenta, a combination I didn’t think would pair but it did beautifully. The garlic shrimp came with a sauce good enough to drink and the tuna tartare was flavourful and fresh. The signature lamb meatballs were excellent but the lamb arancini were better. The baked feta with roasted grapes and olives was just so decadent the flavours danced across my tongue. Everything was outstanding but the filet Wellington was wrapped in phyllo pastry and had this luscious mushroom gravy that had so much depth of flavour I kept wanting to go back for more!!! I think that this makes perfect sense as the chef is a two time James Beard Award Winner and let me tell you he lives up to his name through the complexity and deliciousness of the food here at Trade!! Last but not least I must give special recognition to Ervis!! He not only is a talented server but treats the occupation as an art. Expertly explaining details about the restaurant and the menu. Not only describing and suggesting but truly but guiding us through what was the most exceptional...
