Dining at Bacco in Boston’s North End was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the historic heart of the North End, Bacco embodies everything that makes Italian dining in Boston legendary—authentic flavors, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and a level of service that goes above and beyond. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like honored guests, attentive without being overbearing, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and genuine hospitality.
The food was absolutely spectacular. The chicken parmigiana was a true standout—tender, juicy, and layered with rich flavors that showcased both authenticity and artistry. The ravioli two ways was simply divine, cooked to perfection with sauces that highlighted the chef’s craftsmanship, and the pasta itself was homemade with that perfect texture and freshness you can only get in a top-tier Italian restaurant. Every bite felt like a journey to Italy.
Beyond those highlights, everything we tried was exceptional. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful, the entrees were plated with care and flair, and the desserts were the perfect sweet finish—decadent without being heavy. The cocktails and wine selection were equally impressive, crafted and curated to complement the meal perfectly.
What made the experience truly memorable, though, was the impeccable service. Every staff member we encountered was knowledgeable, attentive, and personable. Water glasses were never empty, recommendations were spot on, and everything flowed seamlessly, creating an atmosphere where all you had to do was sit back and enjoy.
The ambiance of Bacco deserves a mention as well. Situated in the bustling North End, it captures both the energy of the neighborhood and a sense of refined elegance inside. It’s lively without being overwhelming, making it ideal for a romantic date night, a family celebration, or even just a night out with friends when you want to enjoy something truly special.
As for value, Bacco delivers in spades. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, drinks, and overall experience you receive. In a neighborhood known for world-class Italian dining, Bacco stands tall as one of the best.
In short, Bacco checks every single box: phenomenal food, authentic flavors, homemade pasta, beautiful drinks, impeccable service, and a vibrant North End setting that makes you want to come back again and again. This is not just another Italian restaurant—it’s a North End treasure that deserves every bit of praise. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I am already looking forward to...
Read moreWE had limited time and kind of last minute we headed to the North End around 4:30 on Saturday December afternoon between the holidays. The North end was busy! The smell of Food and pastries was in the air and the streets and sidewalks were a sea of people. Excitement filled the air ! Bacco did not disappoint.
We were greeted by a gracious host and asked if we had a reservation, of course we did not. WE spoke for a minute talked about here we were from and if we had been there before. The bar was packed with Thirsty guests and our host was scanning the room and found us a table which they quickly converted to seat 3 , our last minute non-reservation situation vanished and we were seated quickly . Our waiter Brian provided us quick , efficient professional service with no rush . We ordered drinks and were served delicious bread with EVOO and balsamic vinegar.the Moretti Lager arrived with a chilled glass and was perfect, the house Pinot Grigio was also enjoyable. Ice water refills ere constant and perfectly timed, indicative of a well oiled , well managed staff. For appetizers we ordered the fried calamari with cherry peppers, and the artichokes with “Picatta “ style sauce. The calamari was crisp and fresh , the sauce sublime, and the cherry peppers were also fried and just perfect. The artichokes I could eat every day and the sauce was mopped up with some more bread! Entrees included A Seared salmon with jumbo shrimp and spinach ravioli , Picatta style. Awesome all around , excellent quality Fish and shrimp- definitely not rubbery tiger shrimp , somewhere around the u15 size. The linguini with shrimp , scallops and lobster “carbonara style” was just off the hook as far as decadence and two people could share it after apps.Good quality shellfish once again . I had the Veal Parmigiano, which was just as perfect as expected at this point with al dente linguini on the side sauces to perfection , tender and what you would expect in a REal Italian restaurant Like Bacco. Cheese was grated table side by our waiter and zero skimping was the name of the game - my kind of preferred cheese experience. Cracked black Pepper was also offered.
Overall , our experience at Bacco met our lofty expectations Of the North End food scene . We will return and recommend it to everyone. Thank you , for seating us without a reservation on a super busy Holiday weekend, thanks for everything about your restaurant, The...
Read moreI just had one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable restaurant experiences of my entire life. To start, the food was fine. I found it to be a bit extreme in the flavors. One person in our party found their meal to not be so good, but this wasn't the issue I had. The real problem was the service. At the beginning of the meal, we asked a few questions, to which she had such vague responses. Complete nonanswers to questions about portion sizes. The only question that was adequately answered was about the featured pasta of the day. During the entire meal, she was lurking near our table. It was completely uncomfortable. The rudest part of the meal, to me, was that she delivered the cheque without even asking if we wanted to order any dessert or coffee. It was over an hour and a half before they closed, so there was no reason for her to rush us out the door. There were plenty of empty tables. When we informed her that we wanted dessert, she didn't apologize or say anything to justify her actions. When we got the cheque, we were confused due to a 20% gratuity being applied to the bill. We checked the restaurant policy which stated that parties of six or larger would be required to pay an 18% gratuity. We were a party of four, so there was no reason for gratutity to be applied and certainly not 20%. The waitress attributed this mistake to the manager. We were truly astonished by this severe of a mix up. With all of these incidents, we decided that a generous tip wasn't appropriate. We ended up tipping a bit more than 5% post-tax, which for the price of our meal was more than some servers would receive as a good tip in other restaurants. The icing on the cake was after leaving the establishment, the waitress chase after us to confront us about our tip. She "informed" us that an 18% tip is customary, especially considering she "filled up [our] waters." She was only able to keep our waters filled because she was looming over us and not doing anything else. Not only was she unprofessional in the restaurant but to chase after us simply reaffirms our feeling from the meal. So Laura, I really hope that you can get a job outside of the service industry. Incredibly...
