Funky little spot. I saw some college kids in there studying. They have books on a shelf if you want to stay a while. The interior reminds me of like a place my mom might go into to see what kind of scented candles they have and other goods to give your house that homey feel. Definitely chill vibes for an earthy crowd. They also have some outdoor seating in the back which is cool and I noticed those tables were occupied, so it appeared to be a popular little spot.
It was hot that day, I was on my way to work on my bike, and I was sweaty and thirsty after checking out a new place. What drew me in was the sign. I forget now what it said, but I took it to mean that they had some potent coffee, cause I think it said something about a horse or something. But now I think I recall that that had something to do with them buying locally, but I'm not sure. I like to go to little coffee shops to see what they offer that's different from the chains and I needed to quench my thirst and get some good caffeine in me for my upcoming shift. After checking things out a bit I got a freshly made iced ginger tea that had a kick to it. Just something new I figured I'd get a taste of. I got something else too, perhaps a coffee or latte, but I don't recall, but I ultimately ordered 4 drinks - two cold, two hot. I remember the hibiscus tea and I'm confident I got some specially flavored latte. The teas were what you might expect, I guess, but idk cause they were new to me. The flavored latte was as advertised as well, so no complaints. What I remember thinking though is that there coffee wasn't super strong as I thought was suggested, so ultimately I came away unimpressed. Aside from the funky, homey, earthy vibes I saw no need to go back. Just sort of a pitstop that day. But I think it'd be worth a second look on a day I had more time. I think they had food, too, so that may be worth checking out. But I think it's just an alternative to the chains. Nothing super noteworthy from my perspective, but fair enough to give...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place. Showed up for a cup of coffee, nothing intense, but loved the vibe. Favorite part is that after I ordered my americano, I asked my man if he wanted anything. He asked if they had dark roast. Barista said they don’t. My man said he was good. Barista said cutely under his breath something about my man having no real understanding of what dark roast means. I invited him to say it louder, and he (kindly and respectfully with the right amount of irony to befit this situation) expressed his view that looking for dark roasted beans is like looking for a burnt peanut. Writing that sentence was just about as amusing as the experience of hearing it.
But...what was better? The gentleman poured a short taste of the house coffee and invited aforementioned man to taste it and tell him what he thought about it.
I just...loved that. It was a gesture of invitation, of curiosity, and pride in the product. So the coffee is very good. The people are even better. And the place has a cool ceiling mural that feels like culture writ...
Read moreI went in yesterday to grab coffee before work around 8 am. There were few people there. The barista (Male, 5'5", wearing glasses) acted as if he could not care less and moved slowly. This was extremely frustrating because like much of the world in the morning I am on my way to work and do not have time to wait around because an employee is taking his sweet time. The coffee was pretty good so I decided to give them another shot today.
There were few customers again at 8 am. A second barista was at the register and today I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. He was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the original barista was making food, again taking his sweet time, unhurried as if the world did not matter. I ended up walking out to catch my train. I find it ironic that a coffee shop with a train timer next to the register would...
