DON’T BUY GIFT CARD DEALS!!!
GIFT CARDS: Sal’s “Comp cards” don’t work with their cash register. So, their staff REFUSE to accept them at all! Sal ran a great promotion in December, offering gift cards that were buy one get one free. I purchased $100 worth because it was a great deal… having no idea the “free” gift cards would not be accepted by staff!
THE STAFF: the “manager” was aggressively, rude, and set a terrible example for the rest of the staff. He told me the card number, for my “comp card,” did not work with his register, so he couldn’t accept it. I told him I had the same problem, the last time I was there, and they called the manager to get the card accepted. He said, “I am the manager... Your card doesn’t show up in the system… there’s nothing I can do.”
I politely asked him if I could video him telling me that. So, I had proof that I had tried to use the card and failed. he responded by becoming immediately angry, swatting his hand in my face, and saying, “I was being nice, but I’m done with you.” He then told the other employee to wait on everyone else, that came in after me, because I was holding up the line. THAT WAS HIM BEING “NICE?!?” I have severe PTSD, and dysautonomia. This employee’s bad behavior caused BOTH to flare up for the rest of the day.
LOYALTY PROGRAM: customers are supposed to get 25 points, for signing up, and another 25 points with every purchase. I got the sign-up points… And no more ever since. Sal’s staff don’t even mention the loyalty program, let alone add points to your account when you make a purchase… Even with a gift card tied directly to your account.
Update to my one star review: 5 star corporate customer service 2 star in-person customer service
None of the staff, at this location, knew how to process my promotional gift cards, and were very rude to me, rather than apologetic. So, I left a one star review.
Customer service was quick to email me, after reading my one star review on yelp. They offered to take the balance from my promotional/comp gift cards, and transfer it to a regular gift card. I truly appreciate them promptly addressing the problem. I only wish the in person staff were...

Finally checked out the Sal’s near my office for lunch the other day, and gotta say I was not disappointed as a hungry soul!
It was a two-person shop, with a lady at the front and a guy in the back, constantly stretching doughs. The lady is typical of Boston who you can say is not nice but is kind. They work efficiently, but that’s just two people manning the shop and making fresh pizzas to order, so bring some patience to wait for your hot oven-baked.
As a woman I just ordered one slice and a Greek salad. The salad was ordinary but fresh, but the pizza, oh boy, see the pictures yourself! It’s Sweet Chili Steak, the second favorite of the cashier’s because her most favorite was out, and this pizza will make you feel like a boss during a mundane workday lunch even eaten in front of your computer screens!
I can’t wait to go back on another hungry day and try the cashier’s favorite flavor.
And did I mention that by “one slice” they...
Read moreThe pizza is ok. You can find better down the street at new york pizza- this pizza isn't bad for Boston though.
The customer service, on the other hand, is a sad story. I asked for a cup of water (after having already overpaid $6 for a slice of veggie pizza)... The cashier said "no, we have bottled beverages for sale" I said I don't usually drink bottled drinks can I just have a cup of tap water? He said "no" and chuckled.. I was shocked so I said ( in a very non confrontational way- I am a nice, reasonable person) then this will be the last time I buy pizza here. He said "That's OK!" So I just want to now spread the word that Sal's pizza doesn't care about its customers and would rather sell a $2 bottle of water than keep a loyal customer. Very sad and embarrassing. I wished I got a refund for that slice because I did not enjoy it after being treated like that by...
