Last minute we decided we wanted smoothies so we called ahead to make sure the store would still be open but there was no answer, the call was done at 6:09pm. - Last time we came in about a month ago after 6:35pm…we weren’t able to be helped because we were told “we are closed.” As we opened the door. We understood as some places need to clean, etc., their store hours are until 7:00pm I believe, we understood…. - This time, even though we couldn’t get someone on the phone, we still drove and figured we try and ended up making it around 6:13pm. We entered and were greeted, then took our time overlooking the menu since some items ingredients are unavailable at times.
We were ready to order and my significant other asked a question about the, “Rock the Beet” smoothie and was told in a very condescending way, “yeahhh, but we don’t have dragon fruit to make it anyway…”
We understood that, so then we kept looking and I noticed as soon as our attention went to the menu she was scrolling on her phone at the register waiting for us rather than offering a suggestion or being attentive in any way. She seemed checked out and not in any way ready to help the customer.
We finally made some decisions and put our order in at 6:20pm. We ordered the “I got the Blues” and the “Triple Threat”. As she was making our order we waited by the window table on our phones. Out of no where all we could hear is banging and crashing. Everything needed to make the smoothies were being tossed around, she was dropping things or throwing them, it was hard to tell BUT it was consistent and so LOUD that it was over powering the MUSIC playing! At that point we didn’t even know if we wanted to stay there but we already paid.
The noise really stopped once the blenders started. Surprisingly that was less loud than the noise she was making. We got our drinks and she put them down quick at the counter and walked away while saying’ “enjoyyy” …no straws were even given to us.
After the first 1-4 sips out the door we unfortunately could not continue or enjoy the smoothies. They tasted watered down and you could hardly taste the different flavors in each smoothie. The blues smoothie tasted like watered down Greek yogurt and blue berries.
I would’ve asked to have them remade but we already felt like an inconvenience by the way we were treated and also felt disgusted, disappointed, and discouraged with having to face attitude like that….so I walked back in an asked, “We didn’t like these smoothies and I would like to see if a refund is possible”. All that she said was, “oh you didn’t like them?” “You want a refund?” - No: “Sorry for the inconvenience“ or even a, “How can we make your experience better” etc. ….. She was really only caught up on having to help us with a refund.
At first she was hesitant, explained that it wouldn’t be possible then it became that she would have to text the owner… I understood and said “okay, no worries”. Moments later she mentions, “I don’t know if the refund is going to work”.
I took a picture of the drinks on the counter and explained I’d come back the next day and discuss it with the owner instead…..Then all of the sudden, she was able to do the return….
We have been coming here since January 29, 2024 (not too long after the opening) and after my experience it reminded me that this same employee that had an attitude last time they helped me. At first my only issues with this store was the lack of ingredients at times or the bowls not really being full with a base (even with the newer bowls that are small, the customer still doesn’t get consistent servings). Now this.
Jamaica Plain is a place I’ve only lived for 4 years and more than anything, this place is a community, it’s friendly, kind, and caring….Never in my time here have I had a bad experience with the businesses on Centre St. other than today.
The only reason I will come back to this store is if the refund amount of $24.99 doesn’t show on my account. Today was the last day I’ll l try to spend money there. I wish this place the best of...
Read moreI come here frequently and 9x out of 10 I have to modify my order because they don’t have a specific ingredient. It’s not a huge problem because it still tastes good but it’s still a little disappointing when I have to modify my order or change my order all together. It would be nice if they had a list of ingredients that they’re out of for the day so it can set my expectations.
I also come here with my partner and baby, sometimes we want to sit in and enjoy coffee/ breakfast here instead of the big chain restaurant up the street because we love supporting small businesses! We tried ordering coffee and small bites but they didn’t have the ingredients or items. Also there are only high top tables, so it’s hard to imagine staying in with a stroller.
Regardless, I still come in to enjoy a tasty smoothie, plus I met the owner and she is so nice and even comped by smoothie when I realized my Apple Pay wasn’t set up and denied the purchase. Customer service is great and...
Read moreI was super excited to find one close to home! Especially being pregnant it’s an easy refreshment once getting off work. Service isn’t great, I’ve been here 3 times in the last 4 days. Today I called and placed an order the lady who took my order said “oh ok” and disconnected after I placed my order. Didn’t confirm my order or ask if I wanted anything else. They then called back to get my name for the order. 2/3 times they have attitudes when I come in and order and for the amount of money I spend I think I’ll just make...
