The experience here depends greatly on whether it is busy and where you are seated. We enjoyed it greatly in the past when we were seated at the bar. On this recent visit we visited when it was busier than usual, were not seated at the bar, and ended up with with sub par service this night. The personnel that was tending our table was quite rushed and impatient. She was unenthusiatic about showing us the sake bottles that they were recommending and was chopy in answering inquiries or questions. Considering it was a busy night, its all understandable at this point. Then, she made a mistake in the first round of pouring of the sakes we chose to have. When we told her of this mistake, without any double checking she quickly refuted us and emphasized that she made no mistake and questioned our perception. She eventually came back with the correct sake again but asked us to double check this time before the pour. The sakes that got mixed up were honestly quite different in palette profile and to the noise. As a industry professional, with some reasonable sense of doubt, a quick sniff test could have lead to easy realization of the mistake. The night proceeded without a single acknowledgement of the mistake or any apologies. Though we didn't further confront this issue since we didn't want to ruin the night, the experience left behind somewhat a sour taste. The situation left us feeling like we were perceived as unreasonable and trouble causing. It is a little sad to have had this experience at a bar that we have thoroughly enjoyed in the past. We are all now somewhat discouraged from...
Read moreIt was a ridiculously bad experience. After dinner with friends, we figure we wanted to give this place a try after seeing that this place has decent ratings and the pictures looks good. But in reality it was far from whatever was shown. Pre-packaged store-bought chips, plastic cups for serving a $23 sake packaged in a can, $16 lychee martini with the size of a Listerine mouthwash filled cup at your dentist, in a damn plastic cup with glitters. And No changing cups between tasting. Shows very little effort and professionalism. What a shame on the bar industry and the name of Japanese bars. Shame on myself for even giving it a chance there after walking in seeing all these red flags. They are charging at the price point of a Ritz hotel bar for drinks but with a service of a lemonade stand, I have no idea how this place...
Read moreAfter so much hype, I was excited to give this place a try. Being first "sake" bar and their collection. If you can't get a seat at the bar or tables behind it, DO NOT go.
They had additional tables outside for grabs. The way those tables worked was, you go in, stand around the bar(there were 10+ such people waiting) to place an order, get your sake and walk out. We ordered Japanese curry empanada and was told it'll be brought out in 10mins. We checked in at 20mins, they apologized and said it'll be out soon. It was 30, 40, 45mins, and nothing. We checked at 45mins mark and the waitress pointed at something looking like a microwave/toaster saying 4mins left. WTH?! Such a terrible service.
If you can't serve those additional tables, don't offer or just leave those...
