I want to start by saying that I’d rather prefer to write a positive review, to encourage people to go and experience new places and new culinary creations. But today is not a case. A friend of mine and I went to this place for a Sunday Brunch. I don’t know where even to start so disappointed we were from incredibly incompetent waiter to a very under qualified chef to the badly prepared simple drinks and food. We started with ordering a Blood Orange Mimosa ($14) which was served in oversized glass with a flat prosecco and a very doubtfully looking blood orange juice. When I asked a waiter why this drink looks so odd he didn’t offer us a new one, but simply added more Prosecco into the glass making the drink even worse. Then the food came. The blue crab eggs Benedict ($25) came with solid overcooked eggs, absolutely cold and unseasoned. Even potatoes were cold. When I complained about the dish, it was taken away and returned back 10 min later with the explanation that the eggs were fried in order to be warmed up. And, indeed, they were fried! A previously supposedly poached eggs! Needless to say, I sent this chef’s creation back to the kitchen and ordered a Burrata with salad. That dish never arrived. After another 20 min of waiting we asked for a check. Another 15 min went by, the waiter arrived with it and proudly announced that we were not charged for our meals (no kidding), only for the super bad drinks. Next 15 min we were unsuccessfully waiting for the same waiter to take our card, after that we end up paying with cash, luckily we had just enough money to do that. Please, keep in mind, there were hardly 20 customers at that time. It was unbearable to stay there. Both, the waiter and the chef, were openly neglecting us. I don’t think I can remember such a bad service and food experience ever. If you are thinking about going there, please, do yourself a favor - DON’T! Save your money, time and taste buds. There are plenty of great...
Read moreWe just had an exceptional meal at the Shawnut Inn. The vibe is nice, neighborhoody and cosy. Our service by Michaela was A+,…friendly, informative, attentive and helpful. She made us feel welcomed and taken care of. The food was also exceptional. We started with the shrimp and the mussels. The shrimp were large, tempura fried with a delicious black garlic aoli. Simple but elevated. The mussels were also excellent, served out of the shells in a delicious smooth, rich green curry sauce with perfect toast points. We also tried the lobster fra diablo pasta, which was very rich, a little spicy and had a great balance of pasta, lobster, Calabrian chili ragu and a little crunch of toasted panko. Finally we tried the sea bass which was perfectly cooked and was so well balanced with fresh corn pure and some whole kernels. We felt like everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared by a chef who was talented and experienced. We live in the neighborhood and are happy to have a new place that makes us want to return. Well done and congratulations to the whole team.
Added 9/21/24: Been here 6 more times and tried brunch today. The quality is outstanding. Everything was fresh, unique, well-composed in flavor, texture, taste and presentation. Everything here is somehow familiar while being completely unique. At brunch we tried the delicious savory shortrib with beef fat hash, the perfectly fresh and well balanced crab Benedict, the unique Johnny cakes,(like an elevated scallion pancake. The cauliflower rice dish was nice with a little spice and Thai flavor… and The waffles were the perfect sweet bite for us to split as a dessert. Well done chef Quang, server Michaela, and...
Read moreAte here for dinner when this first opened and also have gotten take out several times. Food and service have always been excellent each time. Super cozy and great date night option. Sit at the bar if you get a chance. Peter, the bartender, is a hoot. Such a nice guy and makes lovely drinks. You will not be disappointed. Noticed some 1-star reviews which were baffling to me since my own experience each time has been nothing short of 5-stars. Especially the reviews regarding the building ventilation system. That's an issue that needs to be addressed with the owners/property mgr of the building. Shawmut Inn is just a tenant. They don't own the building nor have any control over how well or poorly the HVAC system works. 🤦 Kinda not deserving of those particular negative reviews. They should be directed towards whoever runs...
