I’ll start with the positive. Prices were reasonable and service was fast. My husband ordered the omelet and really enjoyed it. Unlike some places where they up charge for every filling, it’s a flat price, pick your fillings from a list. I had the traditional eggs Benedict. It was fine, not great but not bad. Poached eggs were a bit overcooked, I like them runnier. A bit more hollandaise would have overcome the slight dryness of the overcooked egg. On one hand I figured a place with so many eggs Benedict options would really have it down, on the other hand, it is a diner and not an upscale restaurant, and they were turning out breakfast at a fast pace. I did enjoy it, but could have been better. The restaurant was very busy, but the food came fast. The home fries had a good flavor. The big disappointment was the corned beef hash. It was inedible for me. Wasted $3.95. When the server came by during the meal I told her it tasted canned and her response was “because it is canned.” It went back uneaten but they didn’t take it off the bill. So do yourself a favor, don’t waste your money on the corned beef hash. If you like that there are other breakfast places nearby that do it right. We will go back, but I’ve learned what they do well and...
Read moreWhat a fantastic find (Sun. 29 Oct, '23)!!
I was staying just around the corner at the Sheraton and on my way to Reality Church later and spotted this place with good reviews on Google Maps.
I took the advice of others and got there early (just early enough it transpired) at 8.50am - 20 minutes later the place was virtually full. I never felt rushed but was happy not to idle there too long when I was done when seeing a young couple sitting at the window and thought they'd enjoy a table to sit opposite each other at (good deed done ;) ).
I chose the b'fast burrito grande, coffee and juice. It was all great, including readily being provided actual milk in place of the dreaded H&H (LOL). What I spied at other tables looked good too - huevos rancheros getting praise from a neighbour. The burrito saw me through till dinner as well, even after a rainy afternoon run by the Muddy River.
Very friendly (chatty) service and so memorable, even on my own, that I will definitely take friends there for a Sunday brunch or relaxed work meeting on future visits to Boston.
It's just a straightforward place, simple tables and genuinely fresh food. Testament to it, when I walked back past at 12.30 there was a queue that must have been...
Read moreNice staff. That's all I liked. Breakfast distinctly average. I won't be returning. I had "Alex's Crazy Two's". Yeah crazy it was. I think serving cold breakfast is crazy. Eggs nice. Bacon nice. Sausages cold. Home fries, clearly cooked days ago in batch, stone cold. No excuse for serving cold food. Home fries some sort of spicy Mediterranean coating. Not my thing. Just give me potatoes, par-boiled, browned and crisped by the searing heat of the griddle and a little oil. Jeeeez I shouldn't have to teach you how to make breakfast potatoes! The buttermilk pancakes and maple syrup (part of the same dish) arrived a full ten minutes later. And it was a plastic sachet of breakfast syrup. That's otherwise known as syrup. And that's called sugar. I asked for and you promised me maple syrup. Not the same thing. And anyway I wanted to eat them with my bacon, which was long gone, one of the only two items I liked.
Make that three. Coffee was good.
Underwhelming in the extreme. What a shame.
My check was $22 and change. I put a $50 bill on the counter and the server asked me if I...
