West Garden — Restaurant in Boston

My meal was delicious. I can’t speak for service directly or atmosphere as I had the food delivered via Uber Eats, but this was almost precisely what I wanted and I am a hard customer to please.

My two misgivings are that the crab rangoons were a tad soggy on the bottom, and the broccoli in the general Gau’s chicken was a little tough.

However whatever the detractors, the positives far outweigh them. The chicken, though white meat which is usually not my fave, was prepared and fried perfectly and was both juicy inside and crispy outside. The amount of sauce was just right. Four rangoons came with the combo meal which seems reasonably generous, filling tasted just right. I also upgraded the combo with a second app accompaniment— got an egg roll which was just right with cabbage and pork filling. Duck sauce was not too sweet and had that nice hint of fruit flavor that reminds me of applesauce— just right. Fried rice was not mushy nor was it dry, just right, with a wonderful little bit of smokiness/molasses flavor, a little bean sprout and a sprinkling of nice pork pieces.

Base price excluding delivery fees and tip for the driver was around $20 and it’s easily enough for two filling meals (The photo i included was after I ate half at least).I look forward to trying other...

I placed my order online for pickup. The food I got was decent, but they didn't pack my egg rolls. Of course I didn't notice them missing until after I got home, parked the car, unload the food and work stuff from the car into the house, used the bathroom, emptied the dishwasher, got changed out of my work clothes and in to pajamas and slippers, then opened the stapled shut bag to find I was jipped two egg rolls. At that point in time I was starving and decided getting changed again and spending 20 minutes driving back and forth to the restaurant, while my other food got cold, was not worth the trouble. Placed very large order for 10 people at 2 pm to be ready at 4 pm for pick up, restaurant said absolutely fine. Called at 3:45 pm and was told to get it at 5 because running late. Came to get and waited because of line outside till 5:30, lady in counter said my order would take 45 more minutes. Waited in car till 6:30, came back and lady said order was being prepared, but was no ready, asked for my phone number to call me when ready. Went back home, gave my family food from outdoor grill at 8 pm. Restaurant finally called at 9:30 to tell me that half of order was ready to pick up and the other half couldn't be made because they ran out of ingredients.
