TL;DR: This was their grand opening. Good drinks, good food, good atmosphere, good prices. I recommend, and I'll be back for sure.
I was wavering between four and five stars. I went during their opening event. Keep in mind that they had no soft-opening. It isn't some fancy, hoity-toity place, but it isn't a dive, either -- lovely, family-oriented place that can seat probably around 50 people, including the bar. Open and welcoming. I was able to park out front without an issue.
Lots of great choices on the menu. Like most places, they have their drink specials. To put them to the test, I made sure to order a couple of things that could show off how they do things. Take this write-up with a grain of salt because I am picky.
I started off with a Manhattan, but I didn't specify how I wanted it just see how they make it without instructions. I expected it to be a little more spicy because they use rye instead of bourbon. It was as advertised. My only complaint was they packed it with ice to the point that the ice was overflowing which tends to water down the drink. I would have preferred shaken or light ice.
I ordered a half-dozen wings as an appetizer. Sauce choices are mild, spicy, and regular Buffalo. I went with spicy. I already knew what I wanted, so I ordered my main dish right away -- the bacon-wrapped sirloin with a glass of pinot noir.
Oddly, both my app and my entree arrived at the same time. So, while I was trying to finish my app, my entree was cooling down. That was kind of disappointing, but I'm sure it's a kink in the process that they'll work out. My app may have been sitting for a little because the wings were on the cooler side.
The wings are spot on (other than the coolness). Well-sauced, meaty, cooked thoroughly, and juicy. Nice job! I ordered spicy Maybe this is just my palate, but I didn't think they were all that spicy. I expected the usual carrots/celery, but they came with fries instead. I would have preferred the veggies. The wings also come with both blue cheese and ranch. Sampling their fries, I must admit that they were pretty good! Crispy outside but not overcooked. If you like fries, you'll like these.
My main entree was the bacon-wrapped sirloin which came with veggies -- in this case it was broccoli -- and mashed potatoes. There is a difference between "mashed" and "whipped", and they got this one right with just enough brown gravy on top. My broccoli was cooked nicely -- buttered and with a little bit of crispness.
I order my steak medium-rare, and the chef nailed that. The seasoning was a little lacking. With the steak wrapped in bacon (which could have been crisped up a little bit), every bite of the edges just tasted like smoky bacon. The bacon over-powered any steak flavor, and seasoning would have helped here. I ordered a steak and not pork, so I want that steak flavor. The middle was a different story. It had that steak taste, but again, it was underseasoned for my taste. Personal preference.
The pinot noir that I ordered was nice, too. It was just their house wine and nothing fancy, but it fit the bill nicely.
During my meal, the owner, Scott, was kind enough to ask for my honest opinion, so I told him everything I wrote here. I let him know that what I got was still really, really good food with super-awesome service in a very nice atmosphere. And here's the best part -- for a cocktail, glass of wine, half-dozen wings, and bacon-wrapped steak, my total bill was $55.00. Good luck finding that anywhere else!
The bottom line is that this place is one I'd definitely frequent. The food and service are really good, and the prices are great, too, for what you're getting. They have a little bit to work out after their grand opening, but considering they didn't have a dry-run during any soft-opening, I think this place did a fantastic job. It'll only get better. Scott seems to be really dedicated to making this a go-to spot. Good job overall, and...
Read moreThis is a nice addition to Boulder City. Location is great with lots of available parking. The specialty cocktails were really good. The atmosphere was great and the place is nicely decorated.
They have a few kinks to work out with food and service. We ordered the nachos. Another table mistakenly got our order, so we had to wait a bit for them. We asked for appetizer plates. The waitress didn’t return with them, but a bus girl was able to get us some. The nachos were good and worth the wait. The French Onion soup was yummy, however it was delivered after we were served the main course. Two at our table ordered sandwiches and they were great, but the fries were cold. Two of us ordered the grilled romaine Caesar salad. The steak was really tough and cooked well done. The server should ask how you want the steak cook (default should be medium). The steak should be sliced (it was a few large chunks). The salad was drenched in dressing. With it being grilled, it made the lettuce soggy.
This place has a lot of potential. It’s a small cozy place, so it should be easy to oversee the tables and what people need. It was nice that the waitress asked for honest feedback to make improvements. We look forward to returning in...
Read moreWOW! My friend and I can't say anything bad about our visit here. The food is absolutely PHENOMENAL! We shared 3 appetizers Deviled Eggs, Fried Rice Balls and Crab Cakes. I have to say that in all my MANY years of restaurant work I have never had such amazing Crab Cakes, yes the other apps we ordered were fantastic as well but I can't say enough about the Crab Cakes. Now the Fried Cheesecake is something else entirely! Talk about a mouthgasm and this is what I will think about! It's a must have dessert! The service needs to be talked about and I can't find the words to say how great we were treated. Our server, Amber, was superb! We were treated like family and can't impress upon everyone that comes to the small town of Boulder City NV to come here and have a Moscow Mule, I did and it was delicious, a couple of appetizers and a meal topped off with Fried Cheesecake for dessert. We didn't get a meal BUT saw the food coming out and the faces of the other diners as they ate and they were enamored. Scott and Morgan are the husband and wife proprietors have a Wonderful thing going and all of y'all need to come...
