y'all should be ashamed.
i paid $30 for a few pieces of brisket and a sausage with slaw. waited there for nearly an hour before asking if i could just cancel my order, as i was working an event nearby, but the guys in the truck just rushed my order to the front instead. it was disappointingly dry and flavorless—the casing on the sausage was extremely tough too. i understand that they use very high quality beef, which would justify the price, but i would rather buy $30 worth of factory-farmed brisket than feel buyer's remorse for dry grass-fed meats that ended up ruining my day. and it wasn't even hot :( just lukewarm, dry meats.
i also think it's ridiculous to make people wait for 45 minutes or more for a plate at a food truck. it's not a sit down restaurant and isn't the idea of bbq to have slow-cooked meats ready ahead of time? so i'm not really sure what exactly i was waiting for, but i wish i saved my money and time and went literally anywhere else in the market.
also, my friend wanted to order the meatballs, but they were sold out despite the sign still being up. maybe take two seconds to remove the sign or write 'sold out' so your customers know what to expect. we waited about 15 minutes in line, so she had to quickly pivot to the mac and cheese when it was time to order. it wasn't a problem since she liked it, but we both found it a tad inconsiderate.
don't make your customers wait for bad overpriced bbq if you can't be prepared with your portions ahead of time—it's just bad business. everyone knows the market gets busy, so i kind of find it hard to believe that they 'got slammed with orders'. just don't give these guys your money because they clearly don't respect bbq or their customers' time. rancid vibes all around.
go support the vietnamese food stand instead; you'll wait a bit in line, but will be handed a fantastic banh mi and a lime mojito in under a minute for less than $15. and then you can get on with your life because you have more important things to do than wait for...
Read moreI ordered the "sampler plate." Naturally, you'd think a sampler would have multiple types of meat to sample. I picked the barbecue truck thinking it would give me the biggest meal option of all the food trucks and would hopefully fill me up. Boy was I wrong! When my plate was delivered, it consisted of two very tiny pieces of brisket and a small cup of nasty cucumber salad. My $16 meal would have barely been enough food to feed a 5 year old, so I left there needing to go buy a real dinner somewhere else. The meat tasted fine, but the portion was absurd!...especially considering that the only side dish was tiny and nasty. Worst food truck I've ever been to hands down.
Update: The owner replied saying they don't have a "sampler plate." This is a lie, Maybe they have updated their menu since my review, but the sign out front clearly said "sampler plate." I'm glad they cleared up the language, although they should own their mistake...but either way, the portions were so ridiculous that it would barely qualify as an appetizer rather than a meal. I literally left this food truck and went straight to another restaurant down the road and ordered another complete burger meal that I had no problem finishing. Never in my life have I had to order 2 dinners to fill up and been able to easily...
Read moreThe Boulder farmers market is apart of my family’s summer weekend ritual and Rang Tang has been the centerpiece since last year.
Even in a forward thinking place like Boulder County, it’s hard to find restaurants, let alone food trucks, that really focus on ingredient quality. The food business is hard as hell financially, but it’s still amazing all the extra stuff in even the most benign foods today. Does make me feel guilt eating out at all.
The food is uncomplicated, locally sourced and delicious — meats, greens and pickled vegetables is my go-to meal. Brisket well within the ballpark of some of the best I’ve had in Texas (or Wayne’s over in Superior). Even my generally vegan partner will break preference for the burnt ends.
Awesome addition to Boulder food scene. Keep doing what...
