This place is a disaster. The service is the worst I’ve ever experienced in a sushi restaurant, and maybe at any restaurant, period.

We came on a Saturday night expecting to have to wait a little, but the server or manager (hard to even tell), was so flustered and three separate couples were all waiting at once to even put their names down. We were told they were out of “special” fish, whatever that meant, but I’d wanted to try this place for a while so we were fine with it. I should have seen this dysfunction as a sign of what was yet to come.

Finally we are seated, we order and sip on some sake for over an hour before our food finally comes. The restaurant wasn’t even full and the three sushi chefs we’re screaming at each other frantically, and to the servers. We are told they are out of salmon- this is where it goes downhill. I’m sorry but how the hell is a sushi restaurant out of such a basic fish at 7:00 PM on a Saturday night (on a holiday weekend)?!? After waiting over an hour we are told this.

Then about 30 minutes later we have to ask where our rolls and they couldn’t even remember what we ordered. The manager wasn’t willing to do anything substantial to make this right.

The few pieces of nigiri we did get were amazing, but this was an extremely frustrating restaurant experience. The restaurant also is in dire need of a remodel.

This place needs Gordan Ramsey and the Kitchen Nightmares team to set...

I went here because I tried to go to AOI 20 minutes after they opened and they were already booked for the entire night. I'm SO happy it worked out this way because this was an amazing experience!

Most sushi places are so overpriced because it's just regular sushi and nothing special, but here the chefs really put a lot of care and effort to make unique nigiri which is quite rare. I also love that the nigiri come pre-brushed with soy sauce as is done in high-end sushi in Japan. The izakaya dishes were also amazing and reminded me of my years living abroad in Japan! They even have hokke which is the first time I've been able to find it anywhere in the US! (my only complaint is it doesn't come with grated daikon and ponzu)

The fish was very fresh, the waitresses were so lovely and we stayed for a few hours and no one tried to pressure us to leave even as they started to fill up for the night. It's a bit pricey but on-par with most good sushi restaurants. Such a great experience, I can't...

I strongly recommend not coming here on weekends. My girlfriend and I waited about 20 minutes before being seated, and we ordered around six items. The problem? Only two of them arrived. After waiting another 15 minutes, we had to remind the staff just to get our sake. Then, three more items never came. Twenty minutes later, we received our miso soup, but two items never arrived at all, even by the time we got the bill. If it’s busy—do not come. The service is a disaster. The blonde servers in the dining area don’t even know the names of the items on the menu. When I asked the older lady in the dining area when our food would come, she just laughed like, “Oops, I forgot, I’m busy—what do you want me to do?” and walked off. We later found out the item quantities were wrong on the receipt, and it was hard to even find someone to help. Today was my birthday. I came here hoping to have a good day—but I left completely disappointed. If you want save or celebration day, DO...

We were craving some good Japanese food and our favorite place in Boulder was packed, so we dropped in here about 8:45 to a fairly empty restaurant. However, we were greeted warmly and immediately and were given a table within 30 seconds on a Friday night. We ordered sake, beer, and a few apps. The agedashi tofu was above average, though the broth was unusually thick. The fried squid legs were very good, as well. The shrimp shumai was pretty good, but we didn’t think it was worth the price. For mains, we ordered a couple of fatty bluefin rolls and the sashimi moriawase. The rolls were quite good (especially the hand roll), and while the sashimi was above average, it wasn’t worth the steep price for so little fish and the mediocre presentation. We will go back here, though, because we found it to be the second best Japanese restaurant in Boulder and it wasn’t crowded.
