Getti's Island Spyce Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Bowie

My husband was in the shopping center where this restaurant is located and decided to pick up dinner on the way home. We ordered jerk chicken wings, chicken patties, a fish sandwich, and a piece of red velvet cake. He asked for no sauce, mayo, etc. of any kind on the fish sandwich. The menu did not list that there was anything included on the sandwich besides fried fish, lettuce and tomato. Nevertheless, I told my husband to emphasize and make sure they notate "no sauce". The receipt states "no sauce".

My husband gets the food and comes straight home (S. MD). I open the sandwich and it was literally smothered in some type of sauce. Also, the jerk wings were pink inside and did not look fully cooked. My husband drove back to the restaurant, showed them the food and the receipt, and asked for a refund. The restaurant stated that they do not give refunds and would remake the fish sandwich. However, they refused to remake the wings because they said they didn't believe there was anything wrong with the wings.

Even the food that was not messed up was just ok. Overall, we were not pleased with our experience with this establishment and further, I do not like the fact that they messed up OUR order and gave up food that we felt was not safe to eat and refused to rectify the situation. My family loves Jamaican food, so we are always trying different places. This place, is the bottom of the barrel and the worst food, atmosphere and service we've ever endured. It was my husband, young son and myself that went into the establishment. First off, it should be illegal for workers in the kitchen to be coming out through the front door drinking a bottle of liquor and then smoking Marijuana out front of the establishment. Had we seen this before we ordered, we definitely would not have ordered any food. Every single was disgusting. The rice and peas had no flavor and was extremely dry. The coco bread had no sweetness to it and was like eating a loaf of bread, very plain. The beef patty was the worst I've ever had and even that didn't have flavor. The jerk chicken was anything but, it was basically roasted chicken and didn't have any jerk rub/sauce on it at all. The cabbage, yuk, no flavor and was hard like it wasn't cooked all the way. The oxtail was ok, but for the price, the portion was very small. The eskovitch had no flavor as well and my husband was very disappointed. As for the establishment itself, it was filthy and I'm very surprised the health department has not shut them down. Overall, I would never recommend this establishment to e wn our worst enemy. I've patronized this establishment since they opened earlier this year and initially had some reservations because of their prices. But given that some of their meals (mainly seafood) are made too order, I relentted. Their meals are very good, but the customer service is super horrible. Today (October 2, 2020), I placed an order for a fish dinner. The young lady -cashier- informed me that it would take 40 minutes and, this not being my first time; I understood. I paid and ran some errands. 38 minutes had pass, so I went back to check on my order, only too be told it would take an additional 30 minutes, without any explanation. I wasn't going too wait an another 30 minutes and wanted a refund. They refused. They wanted me to wait another 30 minutes and, as I became visibly frustrated, they changed it be 10 more minutes before my order would be ready. Rather than offer an explanation as to why my order was taking longer than expected, the staff decided to argue with me about the time promised. They eventually refunded my payment, but offered no apology. I can deal with mistakes, but for this business not to take ownership of their mistake is unacceptable.
