This is actually Mandy (wife). I am 100% BBQ, I will pick BBQ over any other food always. The owner commented on a Friend of mines post about his restaurant in Branson. Well we live about 45 min away and took off Saturday to see what it was all about as I had stalked the page for 2 days. Let me tell you!!! There was quite the line to get in, that right there should tell you something, but wait!!!! If you’re an impatient person hear me out. The smell hits you when you get out of your car, my taste buds were watering so bad at this time. We waited maybe 5 min if that, prices were extremely reasonable especially after they brought this absolutely unforgettable beautiful platter (love the metal plates you use btw) BBQ I’ve ever had, and I have had LOT’S of BBQ. I would put this up against any in Kansas City or any in the South. They are very generous with their portions. I had pulled pork with pit beans and Coleslaw (slap yo momma good) and it was so amazing, the owner brought me out a sample of the brisket. Omgosh! I usually always go for the pulled pork but brisket is my next meal. If you like coleslaw like I do then you’re a picky one, and you know by the coleslaw if you’re going to be impressed, well one look at the coleslaw and beans I knew we were in for a treat. A must try! So tender, the flavor unexplainable. Husband had a Bologna (smoked) sandwich, he loves those, and it was the thickest, tastiest one he’s ever had. Daughter built her own burger and when you can make a burger like that, you’ve made it. Saw so many things on other tables I want to try. I usually don’t venture passed baked beans and coleslaw, the Mac & cheese and fried okra looked amazing, so will have to try it. We all 3 left full, happy, and already planning our trip back. Will be watching to see when the AMAZING BBQ sauce is back in stock and will head down. The service was second to none. They were so busy yet you felt like the only one in there. I saw the owner /(wife) told her about seeing her husbands post. She spent time with us, told us their start, was so down to earth, I just can’t say enough about this place and I’m so incredibly happy to find BBQ this close to me. If you are in the Branson area you have to try it! I know you will 100% agree with me. By the way, I’ve never done a review this long, but this place is deserving of it. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Thanks Big D’s we will see you soon! And will be bringing a lot of people with us! I Read they also cater, so all you brides and grooms or anyone having any kind of party! You will not go wrong hiring this place. Your guests will never forget you! Happy customers! You will be too! PS they spend their days off going to get their wood (they drive 5 hours plus to get the best) to prepare the amazing meals they make. These owners work so hard I notice just by stalking their fb page which you should like as they have different off menu items during the week. Kudos to y’all! Come to Cassville, but bring a bunch. Thanks for the experience and great food. Mandy

TL;DR: Order the Smokehouse Burger and you won't be disappointed. We stopped in after my niece saw a commercial for this place and would not stop talking about it. And she wasn't wrong when she said it would be good. We had a party of 8 and the staff immediately dropped what they were doing to help us setup. Every interaction and instance of service was blissful. I split the Smokehouse Burger with my wife (we weren't super hungry and it was piled with meat). The cheddar cheese strings off with each bite and the brisket is well cooked and pairs perfectly with the ensemble. We ordered fries as a side, but I was too full to appreciate them by the time I got around to them. They were seasoned, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Probably delicious if I hadn't eaten more than I expected to already. Our party also split a "Feast" think a tray of various meats and a few extra plates. Each of them said it was delicious from the ribs to the pulled chicken. I had a craft beer while I was here (Float Trip by Piney River Brewing). It was ok, but paired well with the food. I actually missed getting it initially (whether through my own lack of attention or the sudden influx of people trying to order. They remembered what I ordered and made it right as soon as I brought it to their attention (seriously great service). We also split a loaded potato "teaser" (appetizer). It was good, but I didn't expect the baked beans that made up the bottom layer of the cheese and meat filled skins. We picked up a brownie at the register that I did not have the appetite to approach I'm told it was amazing.

Atmosphere and Service Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, setting a positive tone for our visit. The quaint, country decor added to the charm of the place, making it a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. With no line to contend with, we felt fortunate to have chosen this location. Unfortunately, our dining experience took a turn when it came to the food. We ordered nachos and brisket accompanied by okra and a salad. While the flavors were promising, the temperature left much to be desired. The nachos, topped with shredded pork, were served cold, and the brisket, along with the okra, was merely lukewarm. Additionally, the mac and cheese portion was quite disappointing—only a palm-sized serving that felt inadequate compared to the rest of our meal. It was mentioned that all dishes are prepared ahead of time and then assembled for serving. While this approach can streamline operations, implementing warmers could significantly enhance the dining experience by ensuring that food is served hot. Despite the issues with food temperature and portion sizes, I would consider giving this restaurant another chance. The warm service and charming atmosphere are worth revisiting, and I hope that my next experience will include hot, freshly served dishes. Overall, there’s potential here—just a few adjustments could make a world of difference!

NEVER COMING BACK Came to this establishment tonight very optimistic, excited to try some new BBQ and order takeout for my husband & I. Heard good things about Big D’s, and was very let down. The employee taking my order was friendly enough, but there was another worker on the side just staring. I was asked if I’d like any drinks with my order and I decided some beers would be good with the BBQ, so I ordered 2 cans. I informed the cashier it would be a takeout order, then I was handed my drinks and sat down to wait. The staring employee continued to watch me while walking around the restaurant, I tried not to pay her any mind. The cashier asked if I’d want a bag to cover my beer cans, but I let him know it was fine. Then my order was ready and I walked up to get it, thanking the cashier. As I headed towards the door with my order, the staring employee barked at me across the restaurant that I wasn’t allowed to walk outside with the beer. Places like Chili’s let you order alcohol to-go, so it’s not uncommon that I thought I was fine, especially considering the cashier knew he was adding beers to a takeout order AND later even offered me covers for when I left. I walked back to the register and said it wasn’t a problem and I’d just like a refund for the drinks then. The cashier didn’t respond for a while and the barking employee told him from across the restaurant to refund the drinks. While waiting for the refund, another employee from the back came out and said “HEY SHE CAN’T TAKE THOSE WITH HER,”… as if that hadn’t been made clear by the other yelling employee. I’ve never been more embarrassed by an establishment and the error THEY made. Seemed like they intentionally let me start walking out before yelling at me, as if I was trying to break some rule. The cashier let me know I was okay, like I was the one who had something to be sorry for. I also had to ask for a receipt of the refund after the cashier just walked away. I’ve worked in forms of customer oriented jobs for almost 8 years, and I’ve never seen a workplace have such poor customer service. Wish I could’ve got a refund for my tip, as well.

Also- food was so dry and their BBQ sauce...

This was without a doubt one huge letdown..we had big d's from the local price chopper The pulled pork sandwiches were good. The gentleman there mentioned the restaurant and that we should try it. With his recommendation we did try it. WHAT A LETDOWN! My wife ordered the brisket nachos and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans for the side. The order was delivered to our table, and it all looked impressive. REMEMBER THE WORD IMPRESSIVE. The brisket nachos were cold. The meat was cold. Nothing warm or even close to hot at all. My pulled pork sandwich was slightly warm. I took the nachos to the counter to let them know we wanted a new ordered and explained how cold they were.. now that word IMPRESSIVE. By definition means;evoking admiration through size, quality, or skill; grand, imposing, or awesome. None of which happened. The manager ( I guess she was the manager) did not offer any type of apology in any form..all she did was take the order from me , walked to the backside where the worker in the said backside puts the orders together and proceeded to tell the worker that and I quote " he says they are cold". After I stood there for a few minutes the "manager" told me to sit down and she would bring the order to our table. A minute later here she comes, drops the replacement order on the table and walks away. Again no offer of an apology at all. Guess what... cold again .between the cold nachos and the slightly warm pork we had enough. I was so put off that the "manager" did not come back by to check to make sure things were ok. I guess sometimes your lucky to get someone to show up to work. This woman is an example of something like that. She did not care for one second. She saw us get up to leave. She ignored us completely. We did not eat even a fourth of our food ( except I did eat the baked beans). We cannot endorse this place at all. If you were to send the person in the back and the "manager" to compete in the bbq competition's, you will not do very well. Please train these people to care..without customers...
