This is a different kind of 5-star review. We've always had a great time at Cheddar's, but on Father's Day, we did not have the usual experience. Instead, our order was never placed/or received. Our server was new and barely checked on us. I three times tried to flag him down to ask what was taking so long, but I could not get his attention as he never looked back at our table. After waiting 20 minutes just to get our salads, he finally told us there was a mistake and they were working to fix it. With the kitchen received was the previous order that was not checked out correctly, and so they twice brought us a completely wrong order. In all, almost an hour past before we even got our salads. By this time we had not eaten and it was 9:00 p.m. the five star review is for the manager named Josh, who very professionally came to us on his own accord to let us know that he would be completely comping our dinner, and personally went back to put in the correct order. Once the food was received, it was absolutely delicious and made exactly correctly. I think the manager for doing that for us, but he then went above and beyond and said that he would like to buy her dinner again next time if we would come back and gave us a gift card on him to come back. It is because of his leadership and professionalism that I wanted to give them a going five star review for making sure that we felt appreciated and that are concerns were cared about. That is exactly the kind of service I tried to give to my customers, and I was very glad to receive that as well. It has not been my experience that many others go out of their way the same degree. So shout out to Josh at Cheddar's for blessing us when we were otherwise not having...
Read moreWhile we were visiting Branson for a short getaway, we ate at Cheddars. My wife ordered the bacon chicken wraps, which she said were good. I ordered the chicken fried steak, loaded baked potato and "fresh" off the cob corn. Well, I haven't been more disappointed with a plate of food in a restaurant in many, many years! To start the loaded baked potato was meaning, a little cheese and sour cream I guess is "loaded". The biggest disappointment was the chicken fried steak, when tje plate arrived it looked great, decent size on top of a piece of white bread and a little white gravy on top. When I went to cut into it, it just crumbled, I thought oh, just a little extra breading. I was so wrong over half of this so called chicken fried steak was just breading! Once I finally found what they called steak, (yes I know it's just a cube steak) it was to tough I thought ok, just some bristle. Nope, second bite was the same! At this point I was just done, I ate the piece of toast with the gravy after only two bites of this so called chicken fried steak, the canned corn was actually the best thing on the plate!
We went with a party of 6 and in all fairness my plate was the only bad plate in our group. I didn't tell anyone about it, although my buddy next to me asked if there was any meat in that steak as he saw me cutting into all the breading. I didn't tell the waitress as she was providing good service, which we tipped her well for. I personally don't send food back in a restaurant...ever! However for a restaurant that brags about from scratch food that cant do a basic chicken fried steak makes me think...
Read moreShocked at this one! I'd never been to a Cheddars and wanted to avoid going to a "chain" restaurant on vacation, I typically like trying local places... but, on a Sunday at 2pm, we didn't seem to find too many options (oddly) in Branson! So, we settled on Cheddars (helped that the wife had a $25 gift card from her work). Didn't know what to expect, but the waitress quickly brought drinks and two croissants (fresh, with a melted butter on it)... oh... my... golly! They could bring me 60 of those and I would keep eating them. I had no idea that they had such an item and now I might be HOOKED! SOOO GOOD, SOOOO sad only got one each, ha! I ordered the Meatloaf, rice/broccoli mix, and corn off the cob. Wife ordered pork chops, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The food was spectacular. Meatloaf can be hit or miss at places like this and they HIT (as the kids say, it was lit... HA!). The sides were sort of small (only downside really) but that was evened out by the large helping of meatloaf. Wife said the pork chop was delicious, she couldn't eat everything so she mostly finished the pork and tried the sides... she said "I won't eat for days" (obviously not true, but you get the sentiment... it was filling and DELICIOUS!). Honestly, was surprised by the meal overall as we just didn't know what to expect at a "chain" but they knocked it out. It was the end of our anniversary weekend and it was a great...
