As anyone can see from my profile I rarely post reviews, good, bad, ugly, or indifferent. Therefore it takes an exceptional act of either one for me to post. I’ve been to Blue Habanero in Brecksville now 3 or 4 times. While the food is mid tier at best, I always liked the atmosphere, location, and servers. In previous experiences at this location, I tried an assortment of their tacos. This time I strayed from the beaten path and tried fajitas, typically my go order at most mexicana style establishments. Honestly, they were not good, but that’s not the issue. I gladly paid for my food, and simply asked the server about how they cook fajitas, as most restaurants grill their veggies and protein (if ordered). This version was sautéed, I’ve eaten fajitas every corner of California to New York City and in international countries where authentic dishes are created. So I am confident in my ability to recognize grilled versus sautéed food. However, the server mistakenly told a “manager” I didn’t like the food, a simple misunderstand. But when said “manager” came to the table his attitude and demeanor was unprofessional, rude, and assuming. I will paraphrase, but he thought we were the type of people to eat food, complain and the want the bill adjusted. At NO TIME did I ask for a bill adjustment. His tone was rude and dismissive. So to that manager don’t mess it up for your staff. There was a reason why most of that sub-par fajita dish was left on that room temperature hot plate, that usually sizzles at other restaurants who know how to cook. To the server, your service was...
Read moreCame here for lunch two days ago, on Friday. The restaurant has lots of space, fun and nice decor, good and lively music. The young lady server I had was nice and pleasant, though didnt make me feel very welcome. I ordered the Corner Tacos and a side of chips and Queso. Almost 10 minutes later, the server came back and told me the Corner Tacos were not available because they ran out of Chorizo. I thought, are you kidding me? The server recommended Barbacoa Tacos. I asked what are Barbacoa Tacos. Server had to go to the kitchen to get an answer for me, then came back and told me its ground beef. So I went with her suggestion and ordered the Barbacoa Tacos. When she came back with the tacos, I was completely stunned. This was not ground beef, rather it resembled shredded pot roast that was covered in spices. The server was very apologetic and said she can get me whatever I wanted. Disappointed, I told the server I'll eat the Barbacoa Tacos. They were okay, nice spice, though the meat was a bit on the tough side. Adding cilantro, white onions, and the green sauce on these tacos improved the taste. The saving grace was the Queso- it has a very good spice and the corn chips were well made. The server did get a very good tip from me, as it seemed she was still learning the menu, and that no one at the back of the house told her they ran out of chorizo. Not the experience I wanted. I will come back in another month or two and hope for a more...
Read moreThe food here is usually pretty good, I’m giving 2 stars for 2 reasons. Number 1 is when I called to place an order the gentleman on the line could hardly speak English at all. I totally understand it’s a Mexican restaurant and they may have an accent when talking to a worker here, but I mean it was so bad we went back and forth 6-7 times trying to order one item. I politely told him, sir. I cannot understand you at all and was hoping he’d get someone else on the line who could speak proper English but that never happened. After much back and forth I got my order in and then he goes “ok I repeat” then told me only 1 item. So I was like I have 2 more items with that and then finally he said ohh yeah ok. I was calm and patient with him as I understand sometimes things happen, however they need to make sure whoever is working can speak proper English as this was a massive problem in ordering. Number 2, the food was ok, my nachos come with black beans which I’m good with but they literally dumped an entire can of black beans in my nachos. It was getting to the point where I didn’t want the nachos anymore because it was engulfed in black beans. The steak was chewy and unseasoned. I wish I’d say I’ll be back but unfortunately I won’t be for a long time. Do better...
