Went for the entirely gluten free menu and was not disappointed by the food. Really good bread and the best gf bun I have ever had, by far. I had the chicken sandwich because I heard it was good and it certainly was. Loved the thin and crispy fries. The apps we had were very good, but very pricey. The rest of the people in my party had some mixed reviews on their meals (Burger was a bit too charred, duck was very overcooked, but apparently the rabbit was amazing). I really appreciated the wide selection of food and desserts. As a celiac, I really appreciate when there are many gluten free food options that are actually delicious.
They wanted us to put in our meal order with apps, which felt a little strange. Especially because then it took 40 minutes to get the apps delivered (granted, there was a large party at the same time). And I usually prefer to box my leftovers myself, which I wish I would have, because the waitress didn't box the delicious fries! :(
The restaurant itself has a very weird layout, which probably complicates logistics for the cooks and waiters. It's a little cramped and crazy dark. Awesome decor, though. We are upstairs, which was loud with the large table filled. But there were still a few empty tables. I can't imagine being able to hear anything if the room was full.
All in all, I loved the food I ordered and I recognize that the restaurant has only been open for 7 weeks and they are probably still figuring things out. I definitely intend to return in the future and hopefully they'll have things fine...
Read moreI made a reservation to try this new place in Brecksville with my parents for their grand opening. We expected, since it was was their grand opening night, that the service would be slow (which it was, we waited 25 mins for drinks, and over an hour for our food) but we forgave this since it was their first night of service. Once our food came, I bit into my chicken sandwich and had a long piece of hair cooked into the chicken. Obviously I lost my appetite and brought it up to the one of the owners, they brushed it off and didn’t even acknowledge that it was an issue. They even went as far as to look at us and make eye contact multiple times with us from the bar, but never came over to even apologize for the issue. I hate complaining at restaurants as I have worked in many different roles in restaurants myself, and I know what it is like, I do not expect a free meal and I surely understand that mistakes can happen - but the owners simply handled it terribly, and we will not be returning. Our waitress did remove the sandwich from our bill, and she apologized. Again, I hate to complain to the service worker as she really did try to remedy it. The owners sat behind the bar the entire time while their team was behind, working to catch up in the bar and in the kitchen. Unfortunate that it seems like the new owners of this historical building/restaurant in the center of Brecksville do not care about their staff or customers. Thank you Brick & Vine for encouraging me to write my first google review ever. Do NOT waste your time...
Read moreEDITED: From three to five stars. The music was on par with its environment creating a great ambiance. Our food was exceptional as it was last time. Our service was impeccable and they added cushions to the benches. This was a great dining experience and its nice to know the owners listen to reviews.
PAST REVIEW: Great food on our first visit. Service was slow, we had to pour our own wine. The music selection is not appropriate for the environment. I don't want to listen to " we don't have to take our clothes off while drinking cheerwine" while I'm eating my duck. Also....I mentioned it to our waitress and she said it's a constant complaint but the owner picks the awful music. Too bad, this place has great food but the restaurant is cold and lacking ambiance, there is not a painting on the blank walls and there is a lack of padded seating along the wall benches, you literally sit on a hard bench while listening to bobby brown eating...
