Harold's Chicken Shack — Restaurant in Bremen Township

I discovered this Harold's Chicken by chance. I came out this way for a Walmart pickup. But decided to get a little bite to eat first (6 piece nuggets) from McDonald's. When I was pulling out of McDonald's, I saw Harold's Chicken across the street. I wondered to myself if they were good. I said to myself that I'll keep them in mind in the future. I turned right not realizing that I would end up turning into where Harold's was at, to turn around towards Walmart. I decided to get some then (screw those Mcnuggets). Best decision ever! Harold's was my fix for the day. I came when it wasn't too busy, about 7 in the evening. It was just a couple of people waiting ahead of me. I didn't mind the wait at all. She said 15 minutes. I didn't even time it. Why are people complaining about waiting 15-20 minutes? Do you want raw chicken? Then if it's sitting too long, then you complain it's not fresh. Everything was on point, the fries were fresh and cooked done, too. I will travel for better food. I live way east in Chicago. I ate half of my food in the car cause I wasn't going straight home. The only thing is that I wasn't given a spoon, so I didn't try the cole slaw. By time I got home, within 2 hours, even the leftover was good and hit the spot. I didn't get to the cole slaw. The chicken was nasty. It didn't have the original Harold's taste. It tasted like someone took it home, used old flour that's been in the refrigerator for a long time and they used seasoning salt and pepper only. I don't know if they ran out of the Harold's ingredients or what. It was gross. The fries were hard and tasted like it's been dipped back in the grease after sitting for a while. My husband and I were very disappointed and just threw the food away. I tried calling but no answer. This was the first and only Harold's I've been to that was not good. I no longer live in Illinois so when I come to visit, Harold's is my go to. To the owner of this location, I don't mean any harm but if the ingredients have literally changed, I will not be back. I'd like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this was just my experience this particular day. This is my first time at this location and that's why I was really disappointed. To the Harold lovers, I would say don't look at this review as a negative because I don't know what happened that day. Please judge for yourselves. I always wanna support black businesses but always and repeatedly disappointed with extremely poor service. The first red flag was when I decided to call in and place my order while driving to the restaurant. The order taker picked up the call and ask me to hold on and I said OK. but I held on get to the restaurant. Placed my order in the restaurant. came back to the car still on hold? Just wanted to see how long it was gonna take. So I took my clothes to the cleaners next door. Came back, still on hold,15 minutes approx after I placed my order at the restaurant second red flag when the text came through my order was ready. The associate could not find my order while it was sitting on the counter. With the other orders getting cold, he proceed to take care of the person who just came in while keeping me waiting. That customer proceeded to tell him. No, he was ahead of me take care of him first meaning me. After another 5 min. He found my food. Why maintain loyalty for a black business that cannot show simple customer service and respect. Doesn't make sense poor customer service and the lack of respect. I will never...
