Okay, I feel that it is time for me to write something about this place. Bibimbap is a food item that I grew up around. There is one that comes in a metal bowl, and there is one that comes in a sizzling stone bowl. I always had one with the stone bowl whenever there is an option as it does add unique "fire flavor" to it. Also the "NooRoongJi" which is the bottom of the rice where it turns crispy due to the hot temperature adds to the texture and flavor. There are more things to consider of course for me to be able to call a bibimbap a "Good bibimbap". That being said, I had zero idea that I would find "The best bibimbap ever" at a non-traditional Korean restauran. I have had Soy Bistro's Bibimbap in skillet many times but still cannot forget the first time I tried. All toppings are in a way traditional, but there is some twist not to make me get bothered (because now this is not really a Bibimbap anymore) but find it delicious. Portion is very well balanced. Temperature is perfect in every way that every piece which makes this bibimbap work together so well to give off great flavor. The sauce is not too spicy in my opinion, and I think the owner found a great balance between "Spicy" and "Delicious" to many different group of people. I did try other menu and loved all of it. BUT, I just find myself keep wanting this bibimbap. Thank you to my fiance who usually cannot eat the whole thing so I get to have more for lunch at work the next day. Every chance I get to pick where we can have a meal on a weekend, Soy Bistro is always brought up. I could eat this every day (seriously). Staff is great, as well as the owner. I can tell that they want you to have a great time there. Something happened to me once while I was there that made me realize how much the owner cares about his customers. That makes Soy Bistro "complete" to me. I walk out of the restaurant happy and makes me want to go back the very next day. To me, that is "Michelin 3 star" restaurant in my book. Thank you again everyone who are involved in it, and make my experience none other than "Unforgettable" in a...
Read moreThis place has the best customer service I've ever seen. It was a little chilly in there and the waitress didn't even ask if I was cold. She took the initiative to raise the temperature herself and I was shook. Another example is when someone came in late at night and it was closing time. They offered him the option to sit in after closing to eat his food. A+ service.
You pick what you want and order at the cashier. The menu changes every so often so it might not be the same when you actually go but it was basically the same when we went. The only difference was that there were no soy fries on the menu which was on a picture of someone else's review.
It is a little small inside but amazing food. Probably the largest party you can have is around 8-10. They have a few seats outside as well. The fried rice I got was one of the best I've ever had. Imagine you have a bowl of curry and white rice. This rice had the flavors of the curry imbued inside the rice. The taste was very rich with the curry.
The other picture with white sauce on top had the bottom of the rice a little crispy. I wasn't a big fan of it and I'm sure if you asked they could make it more soft. I didn't know it would be crispy and they most definitely would have made it soft if I had asked because they have one of the best customer service...
Read moreHave been here more times than I can count over the last few years as I work around the corner. Up until the last few visits it was always a very pleasant place to go and eat. Usually call ahead and it's there waiting on me and the food has always been excellent every single time. The issue and frustration is one of the employees whom I doubt is the owner/manager. Young guy (probably close to my age). Has always come across to me that he's had a little bit of an attitude and that I'm perhaps causing him an inconvenience. Last visit I politely asked him for a small side of one of their house sauces which is wildly delicious while has was preparing food. His response was "do you need that now" and was spoken with an annoyed tone. I was caught a little off guard and stumbled on my words replying with "whenever you get a free second". After he finished up plating the food he slid me a small cup of the sauce and I thanked him and got a very delayed and annoyed sounding "your welcome". Food still delicious but that guy taints the visit.
Prefered visiting before his...
