Machiavelli's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Bristol

Before the pandemic, Machiavelli's was a very good restaurant, but this most recent visit was downright AWFUL.

We were a table of 5, and the moment we walked in I knew it was going to be a questionable experience. It took a few minutes for a young man to greet and seat us, which wouldn't have been an issue, except the restaurant was DEAD; I saw NOBODY sitting at tables, just two folks at the bar in the other room. The wait time for our entire visit was awful, with the server only stopping by in a total of five times during our 1.5 hour visit (specifically from 6:30pm to 8pm) The food was mediocre, with the two apps being "okay" and our main dishes ranging from "okay the manicotti is decent" to "this pesto has no flavor". For the prices they're asking and how long it took for our food to arrive, they could have done muxh better.

Great spot to stop and unwind. We were traveling through when we decided to stop and this was the spot everyone agreed on. The drive into town off the highway was beautiful and scenic and the main drsg downtown ends (or begins) at Maciavelli's. The servers were super pleasant and friendly. We ordered a pizza, lasagna, and the pasta fazool soup (pasta and bean). The soup was tremendous, they incorperated white and red beans in an Italian chilli style soup. I will definitely be stealing this for myself. The lasagna was also nice with loads of ricotta in what was probably 7 layers of pasta love. The pizza was my only concern, the dough was a little biscuity were I expect a little crustiness with a bit of chew. A little mineral water in the recipe can help to add some of that crispiness though. What do I know, these guys had awards hanging from every wall so they are doing...

We are from out of state but visit Bristol often for date weekends. Last time we were in Bristol we walked past Machiavellis (after we had judt ate elsewhere) and the moment we got a whiff of it we instantly knew we had to come back and try it. Fast forward to 6 months later...we finally got to try it and it did not disappoint!! This was some of the best Italian food I've ever had!! My SO got the Lasagna and I got the Chicken Alfredo and we got breadsticks as the appetizer... we both cleaned our plates. Those bread sticks are what dreams are made of! Staff was very nice and prompt and the atmosphere was great because on one hand it was more upscale but then you round the corner and its the bar and people eating pizza watching football.
