I have had the same few issues, on multiple occasions, ordering commonly requested and on-the-menu bagel items. So much so that it's completely daft to consider going there again. When a customer can not get a menu item prepared correctly one time out of several, it is probably time to cross them off your list.
I do not write to complain, but to inform said business of an obvious point of customer disappointment, and one consistent enough to ensure future frustrations. It seems difficult to believe that a decent bagel place--with fine ingredients--can be so consistently wrong. This holds true for pick-ups, sit-down, and DoorDash deliveries.
The friend who has always ordered with me (also to amazingly similar results), blames the staff. I do not feel that the staff is the problem, as it has spanned a range of staff.
I have no desire to instill negativity in any potential customer, nor to gripe about a local business. I just don't know how I have never been able to get a toasted Asiago bagel with regular cream cheese and tomato slices. Seriously. Have not been able to ever do it.
There are much bigger issues in the world, but i do love a good bagel. After yesterday, however, I'm so perplexed that I not only had to address a very wrong order while I was there, but ended-up reordering the second order later-on for pick-up because I mistakenly failed to check it before I left the shop. And, as I have mentioned, it was not the first time.
The food seems like it would not be bad if you could get what you ordered. So, today was my last time, because I ended up dropping more money for what the items and hassles were worth, and I just can't afford the money and never need any added disappoints, no...
Read moreI don’t typically pass judgement on an establishment. I would rather allow everyone the opportunity to decide for themselves. In the case of Manna Bagel I feel the need to speak out for three reason. First, the habitual lack of product quality; second, the occasionally snarky service; and lastly, the obvious change over the last few years.
I’m not a complainer. I’m the type of person that will eat it and be on my way, even if the quality is far from what was expected. One or two times is fine, but I am dissatisfied every time I visit Manna Bagle. The coffee is always cold/bland and the bagels never seem to have the right mix of ingredients. I’ve had some that were hollow and flavorless and others that were far too extreme with one flavor/ingredient. If this had been a one or even two time occurrence I would write it off as simple mistake, but I haven’t been to this place once without something or all things being dissatisfactory. I live downtown so I’ve been dozens of times.
The service is bareable and likely not a noticeable problem for most. I have spent the last 10 years in the service industry and will notice even the slightest annoyed tone. There have been plenty of days that I didn’t want to be at work or when I wanted to choke the idiotic guest that’s running me ragged for the fun of it but when you rely on tips for your income you learn to swallow your pride and keep your cool.
I remember in days past, Manna Bangle was always great. Now I feel the quality has greatly suffered. I use to recommend this place to people visiting the area or passing through. I now send them...
Read moreThe staff are so lovely and the bubble tea is great, along with the iced lattes. The selection of anything and everything for flavors of cream cheese, to bubble tea bases, milk options, and flavor shots is amazing. They really know how to be inclusive and make sure there's something for everyone. They also sell bags of bagels at a reduced price (not sure if this is a regular thing as I was only around for the weekend) which seemed to be a hit Saturday morning. The bagels are certainly crunchy but still soft enough to remind you it isn't a New York bagel and you're in Virginia, but that's completely ok. I've had worse bagels in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I am not used to ordering bagels to go where the cream cheese is separate in a small condiment cup, instead of on the bagel, I feared the amount of cream cheese in those cups being enough, however the ratio of cream cheese to the bagel was spot on. The amount of everything bagel seasoning on everything bagels is also more than enough to keep you satisfied, should some of it fall off while eating, so you aren't sitting there trying to put it all back ontop of the cream cheese, while also not making the bagel overly salty...
