My friends and I agreed to try Hawaiian Brothers at 71st and Lynn Lane in Broken Arrow. Being such a fabulous and prepared foodie, I glanced at the menu online prior to my arrival. To my surprise, the calorie content is ridiculously high on all these dishes!!! 880 was the LOWEST! Hawaiian - sugary sweet pineapple.... Yeah, I get it. My eye slowly caught a glimpse of low carb small meal options on my virtual menu - guess I will have to ask about this when I arrive.
It's dinner time. The facility looked brand new and very tropical - very clean. I was greeted by an attendant at a walk up ordering kiosk. Slowly started panning around the screen and didn't see the low carb option anywhere. The employee smiled and showed me where it was hidden and walked away. I happily selected Small - Low Carb Option - Molokai Chicken with a side of veggies - 400 calories-ish.
The food arrived and to my surprise, I ordered an additional side of veggies, but it already comes with a side of veggies.... Yay! Veggies from heaven! The server offered additional sauces to compliment the meal - teriyaki or pineapple BBQ. Poked my fork into both cups to try them - OMG!! The pineapple BBQ sauce is amazing! The chicken was hot, spicy, and sweet. Veggies were perfectly seasoned and steamed. Had a bite of my friend's pineapple - fresh and delicious. Desperately wanted a Dole whip - maybe next time. $12 - plus leftovers for another meal is a great value.
Great food, great service, and clean facility. 👍 Will try something new...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this place when it first opened up here and Broken Arrow. And my husband really liked it, I was not a fan because the macaroni salad was overly salty. Plus, The chicken that I ordered was a little burnt and very very very tiny pieces, And the steam vegetables were not steamed, they were undercooked significantly . I did try my husbands, and he ordered the pork which was pretty good. So I chalked it up to new opening mistakes.
So we tried it again it’s been a couple weeks, we ordered tonight. My husband ordered the pork, it was pretty good. I order the sweet and spicy chicken, And again, I got a few chunks of bigger pieces of chicken, but the rest of it was tiny little pieces, mostly shredded chicken. This time the macaroni salad was not as salty, Kinda had a little weird aftertaste to it. But what if I was interesting about this dish, I was expecting some spice to it. Not knock your socks off spicy, But a little bit of a kick. Nothing, it was primarily sweet sauce chicken.
My husband really likes this place, So the next time that he wants to go, I’ll get the steam vegetables and cook them at home.
But to be blunt, I wouldn’t stop for this restaurant if it was the only thing that was open. It’s not that good.
On the plus side, The service is...
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to eat that actually had real food! That saved us from going home and fixing real food. Although Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill shows a bunch of macaroni and cheese and pasta you can substitute vegetables and fresh pineapple instead! Just go ahead and do the online order and see! Very tasty!
The one unexpected snafu, the reason I gave service only four stars, has to do more with their software than their servers. If you order online, they don't tell you where to go. But when you show up, they secretly expect you to do the drive through! When I've been in the car all day, the last thing I want is to sit in the car somewhere! I want to get out and stretch my legs, even if it's only on the inside of a restaurant! So I drove up to pick up my online order, got out, went into the restaurant, and ask for my order! That was what I was told never to do that again! However, the girl said she broke all the rules, and gave me my order inside! In my opinion, Hawaiian Brothers should give their customers, the option they want!
In any event I'll probably be back for the good food, if I ever want to...
