My mom and I were on a thrift tour of Brooksville when we started getting really hungry. We were at AKA salvage and Designs and asked the gentleman at the front counter, (one of the nicest people I have ever met) what he would recommend. He sent us here and said to get The Monte Cristo. Sold!
First of all, what a cute restaurant. I was so excited to walk in, just from the view as we drove up. We got our parking spot and headed in. It was a little crowded, but that was just people eating. We were the only ones waiting at first. The wait wouldn’t have been so long (10 minutes) if it hadn’t been hot out, as there was ample porch seating, and we would’ve been more than happy to eat outside. We’ll be doing this in the winter.
We were sat at a 2-person table at the very front of the house, and immediately served. The wait staff was beyond accommodating. I am lactose intolerant, and I really enjoy sweet drinks, but most of the time they have milk or milk products that may or may not be able to be replaced. They had a delicious sounding coffee drink on the menu called “love potion number nine.” I asked the waitress if it could be made with oat milk or just dairy free. The menu referred to most of the ingredients as secret, so I was unsure. She went back to the kitchen to ask, and the individual in the back said that she would be delighted to attempt a dairy free version of this drink. I said bet, let’s go.
I cannot eat ice cream. I cannot drink a shake. I cannot consume heavily milk based products. The last time I had a shake was when I found out I was lactose intolerant in 2016.
She brought out this gorgeous chocolate coffee drink that reminded me so much of a shake, I actually drank the entire thing. I also decided to wait until today we were there yesterday) to leave this review, because I was unsure if the ingredients in this drink would end up affecting me later. I only wish I had remembered to take a picture of that drink before I had consumed a quarter of it. I will get this or allow them to make me some dairy free every single time I come here. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever had in the realm of blended coffees. I want 6 more. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for allowing me to get the mouth feel of a shake without the tummy ache. My mom even tasted it, and she is so adverse to eating things that aren’t “real,” but even she thought it was delicious.
The only crêpe I’ve ever had at the crêpevine Altamonte Springs, so this is really my only frame of reference for texture and taste. I am ADHD and autistic, so what I say next, please feel free to take with a grain of salt. I did not like the texture of the crêpes, as it was unexpected. I’m fairly sure that this is how crêpes are supposed to be, but it just wasn’t what I was used to. Everything that was in it was spectacular.
I ordered the “some like it hot” and my mom took the suggestion from the shop owner to get the “French Monte Cristo.” Neither of us were able to finish our meals, but we both loved what we got.
Next time, I’m getting the French toast. I saw someone else’s delivered when we were waiting, but my mind was set on a crêpe.
I live around an hour away, so I won’t be coming back very often, but there were so many shops and stops that weren’t on our list, so we will have to come back.
Than you again! I know this was a long review, but you were...
Read moreI wanted to love this place. I really did. It looks AMAZING. Instagram worthy for SURE. And SO busy when we arrived, I'm like "This place must be good!" Well, they have a lot of options and the pictures look DELISH. The food SOUNDED good but left much to be desired. I'll start out by saying that when you bring kids complaining of stomach aches to a table, you give them menus STAT. Instead, our hostess stood right next to us chatting it up with another table (obviously someone she knew personally) with our menus in her hand. Finally, I had to interrupt because my pregnant self and small children were getting hangry. I went for drinks first and was really hoping they had something a bit more "fresh" to drink but serve bottled everything. Maybe just me, but I feel like a place like this should have some fresh juice options. Maybe that's not a Parisian thing. I ended up ordering a matcha latte. At least that was good. To eat, I ordered TWO Monte Christos for us to share and really regret it. Piles of lunch meat with some melted cheese wrapped in crepes. I had to bust out my little salt I carry in my purse to try and get some flavor going on. The drizzle that is usually what makes the meal was tasteless too. :( The tomato soup it came with was flavorful but spicy. Matcha latte was really good, so I'm grateful for that. However, I almost spit it out when she brought my kids' apple juice with ICE in a cup. And not just a little. A LOT of ice. Right away, I knew that this was penny pinching. No shade to the waitress because guaranteed she's instructed to serve it that way. But I knew that was not one full bottle in each cup and they probably used one bottle and split it between the two, adding ice to make it go further but were going to charge me for two separate apple juices. I asked her for the bottles instead. She brought them, no questions asked. I mean, who drinks apple juice on ice?? 🤦🏼♀️ I tipped her well because she did a great job but I can't recommend this place to anyone, unfortunately. Maybe if I had ordered something else, I would have had...
Read moreExceptional Food, Service, and Ambiance!!!! Took a relaxing motorcycle ride from New Tampa through the backroads up to Brooksville and decided to stop at The Lazy Maid Creperie just because it was crepes and who doesn’t love crepes! Well what we were not expecting was this absolute hidden gem!!! From the moment you pull up the vibe was that of stopping at a favorite family members home… inviting patio with outside seating, multiple dining rooms inside so you felt like you were dining with a few other tables even when they were busy in all rooms, and adorable decor throughout. The Menu had both Savory and Sweet options that made it hard to choose because every menu item including the drinks sounded mouth watering! I asked if they had any Diary Free Options (yes I know crepes without diary do not make sense) and the staff including a Chef came over to explore options with me and ensure I felt accommodated, which did and I was grateful for their attention to service. We decided on the French Monte Cristo (which they made diary free with the cheese on the side for my partner to enjoy), 1/2 size of the Raspberry Beret (whipped cream on the side), 1/2 size of the Me Oh My Hot Apple Pie (whipped cream on the side), and a Cinnamon Toast Latte (for him). HOLY MOLY was the food DELICIOUS!!! The honey mustard dressing mixed with the raspberry liqueur sauce on the Monte Cristo was genius and finished off this Savory Crepe to perfection. The Apple Pie Crepe brought you right back to your most cherished All American memory. And I am not a coffee person but the Cinnamon Toast Latte was magic potion in a glass, it was so well balanced for a flavored coffee. If you haven’t already decided to make the drive to The Lazy Maid Creperie then you are missing out because this should be a spot on everyone’s must enjoy restaurant list!!!! We are looking forward to going back and trying more of their...
