I hate leaving bad reviews, but this Sonic on Coalton road is a mess. Not only was my most recent experience there so bad that I simply cannot return, I would caution anyone from heading there for any reason.
I think Sonic can be a great place for drinks and snacks, but honestly, drive out of your way to avoid this one. It is simply put, "terrible".
I have had multiple bad encounters at this location but I will just go over my most recent one in this post. My friend and I got in the drive thru for 2 medium cherry limeade slushes and 2 orders of small mozzarella sticks. The person taking our order gave us the total and we went to the window. However once we got there I noticed that there were multiple cars now in front of us that had not been there before. Specifically a Subaru that had just pulled into the window. It was clear they decided to simply order straight from the window instead of waiting in line to order from the kiosk.
My friend got out of the car to confront the elderly people in the Subaru to which of course they declared they didn't cut in line etc etc. They did. Ok, people suck. What are you gonna do? Well for starters, tell them to get back in line! Why are you taking their order at the window? That's not how this works!! That's infuriating for the people watching you allow that WHO WAITED IN LINE!!
When we finally got to the window, I asked the young woman if those people had cut in line and she was so confused and unsure how to answer it that she basically lied about what happened. Then when I handed her my card for the 2 drinks and snacks, she informed me that their card machine wasn't working. So now we are scrounging through our wallets looking for our meager cash on hand. Of course we don't have enough. Why did the person taking our order at the kiosk not tell us about the downed card machine? Who knows. Just another part of this nonsense.
Now they have to figure out how much we could afford off the order. It was a nightmare. They finally figured it out and we just settled for the drinks, which was the original reason for going in the first place. Great. Perfect.
Then a new girl took the cash after giving me the new total and asked, "do you want any change?"
What!? What are you talking about? What is happening at this location? Change!? Of course I want the remaining balance of excess cash I gave you to purchase the item you provided! Are you kidding me?
It is as though this franchise has simply been abandoned by the owners and is being run by local teens. This post might sound exaggerative, but I am telling you, this place is broken.
Get your drinks and your snacks anywhere else.
P.S. to top it off we didn't even get the drinks we ordered. Lol, they are some kind of Shirley Temple soda with lime wedges.

I arrived at 8:05 this morning and when I pulled in I saw to sonic employees wearing their uniforms sitting out front at a table and another car already parked in a stall waiting for their order. Because the sonic was open because two employees were sitting there not doing anything we pulled into the drive-through and waited for 10 minutes for service knowing that they had seen us pull in and stop. No one ever replied to any of my helloâs on the drive-through so I ordered online since they were clearly just ignoring us and physically at the store and checked into stall five. After another 5 min waiting I yelled at the two employees sitting there to see what was going on and why they werenât going inside to make our food⌠they replied that BOTH of them forgot their keys and they are waiting for someone to come let them in.. I said how Longmont will that take? At this point itâs been 25 min⌠they said âoh maybe another 20 min, we donât even knowâŚâ itâs like ok Iâm leaving. Your app doesnât allow you to a cancel an order so that money is gone and lost forever and I do expect a refund or something for this hassle. At the very least they should have been standing at the drive-through window to notify us that they did not have access to the store so they couldnât take out our order.    Read moreI recently visited Sonic at the Flatiron Crossing Mall and had a mixed experience. Initially, I encountered a frustrating situation at the drive-through speaker, where I was asked to wait for a moment. Unfortunately, this wait extended to 10 minutes, causing inconvenience to the cars behind me. Feeling impatient, I approached the window where orders are taken. Surprisingly, the staff member responded promptly with another request to wait for a moment. I inquired about the drive-through malfunction, expressing my dissatisfaction after a lengthy wait. The staff member seemed reticent and simply apologized without much explanation.
I must highlight the disappointing customer service I received during this visit. It would have been appreciated if the staff had communicated the drive-through closure to the line of cars waiting behind me, rather than leaving them in the dark.
Despite this customer service setback, I must commend Sonic for their delicious food offerings. Additionally, the switch from Styrofoam to plastic containers is a positive step for the environment, which is highly commendable.
