Visited Bubba's earlier today for dinner. No wait for a table which was very nice. We were starving and ordered a couple of appetizers. Our food came out, finally, still no appetizers. We told our server we didn't want them afterall since we had ordered to hold us off. They were brought out within a couple min after we got our food, obviously they just forgot to bring them out and we were informed there would be no charge for them. Everything was great until one of the managers came to our table, my son commented everything was good just our appetizers had come after the meals. She proceeded to tell our table, as she picked up the appetizer plates off the table, that if we were not gonna pay for them she was taking them ?????? Mind you, we didn't ask her or anyone else for free food and the word "free" had not been mentioned. We said to take them but that a staff informed us the appetizers would not be charged. She then proceeded to ask our table if that staff was gonna pay for them out of her pocket. Rude much, Ms. Manager ??? We were enjoying food, drinks, each other's company and this "manager" decides it's OK to take this approach 😒 unfortunate she was hired to do a job that requires dealing with people and most of all professionalism, at least some. Things happen and it's understandable. What is not, is the very unskillfull way this individual tried to mend a situation with us, that we did not put ourselves in. Like, go take that up with your staff. But it became obvious when I spoke to another manager over the phone this might be part of the managers training. I explained the situation, had he offered a discount of ANY type at the time it would have NOT been accepted. But no need for that as the manager attempted to school me on why the appetizers should NOT have been free unless approved by a manager first. OK, I gave up, I mean when you have to explain to a manager of an establishment you are a customer, NOT an employee and the rules need to be understood by the staff and you just called to make someone aware of a situation, NOT to get anything free then it's just futile. Thanks but no thanks Bubba's 33 in Brownsville. Did not have issues with individual assigned to our table, she was...
Read moreThis was my first visit to the Brownsville location. My mistake was going during my lunch hour. The atmosphere is really nice, and the staff greeted you as you're walking in. Servers management were polite and quick to introduce themselves when we were seated. Unfortunately, this is what happened. Ordered our food, and by the way, taste is fabulous 👌. Food took over 25 mins from the time we ordered. My chicken fried steak didn't have any gravy, (my server brought the gravy after I was half way thru my chicken) and my wife had ordered no lettuce and no onions on her sandwhich, along with onion rings instead of fries. Her plate came out with fries and her sandwich with everything on it. Originally, the girl was going to take the plate away, and my wife said, "Don't worry, I'll take the veggies off, and I'll wait for the onion rings" we'll im glad she took them off because it took them about 15 minutes or more to bring out the onion rings. By this time, my lunch hour was already over. She had finished her sandwich, so we just asked for the to go boxes and the check. Im normally not a person who asks for a discount or coupons, I hate when they ask me to give a discount, but the server hands the check over and says " The manager gave yall a discount for the inconvenience" I was like ohh cool he knows our situation of the errors done by the kitchen staff, meaning, I didn't need to tell him. As I was paying the bill, I didn't see any type of discount, and I didn't say anything because I'm not the type of person who expects a discount. So I gave my card paid and were walking out. My wife stopped to ask the server about the discount she mentioned. She apologized and said, "I thought the manager gave you one. it must have been another table." Will go back again in the future, hoping these little kinks have been worked out. I've assisted in opening restaurants in the past, and familar with the glitches and training of new staff, during the first few months. I will not be attending for lunch anymore, but I can't risk the tardiness and speed of service. Thank you all...
Read moreThe food was pretty good. But I would actually recommend it to go.
I’ve been working as a server for about 10 years and know that it’s important to card people. I told my family that I wanted to order a drink, but then I forgot my ID. By the way, I’m 26. Since I forgot it, I told my mom never mind. But when the server came, she went and told her that I wanted to order a drink. I told her what I wanted, but that I didn’t have my ID so I understood that she couldn’t serve me. She told me that she couldn’t and the reason why which I understood. We left it at that and I told her that I would be good with my water. About 10 minutes later, a manager comes over and asks who wanted a drink and began to say long speech of why they couldn’t serve me without an ID. I felt like they made this a bigger ordeal than it was, especially since I wasn’t arguing with them. It felt like the manager berated me in public and honestly, it was pretty rude. I mean for a drink come on. I left it at that, continue to wait for my meal. After our meal got there I had already finished my water and needed some napkins. I asked a waitress that was not our waitress and she said she would tell her. I waited and our waitress brought plates. Mind you sometime had passed by so I thought maybe she wasn’t told. So I asked her. Hey do you think I can have a water and some napkins. She went and said that she was already told to go get them and she would bring them just wait. She came off pretty rude after that, didn’t pre-bus our tables, didn’t come to provide us refills, provided tabs not itemized, often said that the POS didn’t have that button so we probably couldn’t do that, and just seemed very lost. I leave this as a review of my experience, but I hope it’s a learning opportunity...
