The food tastes about how one would expect food to taste at a place called Bubba Garcia's. It's as bland as bland can be but it's wrapped in a tortilla so they call it Mexican. They have the strangest breakfast burrito I've ever seen in my life. I don't know who thought it would work, but they thought wrong. Avocado and cheese sauce do not go with egg and potatoes. But the service was the worst part. First, I ordered the breakfast burrito and received a single taco. Now, I worked on food service for years. I know mistakes are made and I'm always super friendly to everyone. I called the server over and in a friendly voice asked "is this the breakfast burrito?" He didn't apologize. He just sighed, rolled his eyes, and picked up the plate. Then before we were finished with our meal he dropped the check off and said he was leaving. We continued eating our meal. He came back a while later clearly agitated that we hadn't paid yet. He should have explained to me I was supposed to scan the bill with my phone. I kept waiting for him to come back so I could pay so when he came over angry it was pretty rude. I had never eaten there before and I certainly never will again. The only thing I feel a little badly about is as we were leaving we were talking about what truly was our worst Mexican food experience as I was saying the words "That was the worst" the bartender looked over and said thank you, goodbye! And I worry he thought I was talking about their food. While this place was not at all the best Mexican food I've ever had and I won't go back because of the service it was far from the worst I've ever had. I even still left the terrible server an okay tip. That's the kind of...
Read moreVisited the Brunswick location with my mom for lunch on a Wednesday. The place was nearly empty, which was nice. They had one fantastic server, Paris, and another in training. We didn't know what to expect since we were just trying something new. It's a bit more casual than I anticipated, but that was totally fine.
Paris was super helpful and answered all our many questions. We decided on the tacos (the menu is somewhat limited). Paris mentioned they were really big, so I only ordered one. Mom ordered two and couldn't finish them. We also got the calamari appetizer, which was pretty good.
We had the beef and chicken tacos. The beef was so salty I couldn't eat it. I don't use salt at all, so it was a no-go for me. Mom tried to eat hers but couldn't get past the salt either (though she managed about ¾ of it). The chicken taco was better, but it didn't have much flavor to me—maybe my taste buds were burnt from all the salt.
When I told Paris I couldn't eat the beef taco, she was extremely apologetic and suggested I try the chicken one instead, at no extra charge. We didn't have any adult beverages, but it looked like a good spot for that.
Overall, I'd recommend checking it out, but DO NOT get the beef anything unless they've fixed that salt issue or you normally use...
Read moreWe tried it today and were very disappointed in the food and service. We both ordered taco combos. The rice was not seasoned, tasteless. It was served with black beans, also tasteless. We were expecting the standard refried beans so that was a letdown.
The tacos were pretty awful also and were expensive at $5 each. I had two carnitas tacos which were cold, the pork was dry. They were served on flimsy corn tortillas, which did not appear to even be heated. My husband liked one of his three tacos - the carne asada. The other two - the shredded chicken and ground beef were very bland.
Most restaurants in Brunswick and the islands serve fresh brewed sweet tea. Not this place -- yet another disappointment.
Service was mediocre at best. Not very friendly.
I left hungry as I only ate 1/2 of a taco. Our bill with tip for lunch was $38!!!!! We enjoy the food much more at La Salsa Taqueria Tienda and we spend about $20 for lunch for two people and don't leave hungry.
We will...
