I will first state that I rarely write reviews; however, I must write this review to inform future customers as well as McDonalds’ upper-level management regarding Bryson City McDonald’s located at 180 Veterans Blvd.
I am retired military and visited Bryson City recently for college commencement. My son-in-law and I arrived at this McDonalds just before 8am prior to 14 May. We walked into the lobby to order breakfast as the drive-thru line was extremely long. After walking in with our protective masks on, a young lady walked in from the door to the left of the ordering counter without a mask on and proceeded behind the counter, past where the manager was, and then to the back area of the restaurant. All-other McDonald’s employees that we could see had their protective masks on. We were unsure why this employee was not wearing a mask nor why it was not addressed by anyone in a leadership position at this McDonald’s. Of note, Governor Cooper did not relax the mask-wearing guidelines until 14 May.
After ordering our food, we asked the employee taking our order if we can sit in the lobby area. She said that she would have to ask the manager, who was to her immediate right. When she did, the manager was overheard specifically saying the word “no”! The employee returned and told us that health regulations prevented us from sitting in the lobby at this time. Being retired military, I have no problem following rules, guidance or regulations though we were wondering how the female employee that entered the left door without wearing a protective mask was not violating the current health guidelines.
Then unbelievably, as we are waiting to receive our order, a young man with long hair and wearing clothes that looked like he slept in them, walked in the same left door (from the ordering area) without a mask and proceeded to walk behind the McDonald’s counter to the back area of the restaurant with a LIT CIGARETTE in his right hand!!!
Never in my 53 years have I seen such a disgusting, repulsive, unsanitary and down-right ignorant display of behavior in ANY restaurant I have ever visited. This individual walked right past the manager who AGAIN, did not say anything to the employee. One can only image what goes on behind the counter area and what unsanitary conditions the food is being prepared in, as well as what other unsanitary activities have taken place at this McDonald’s. And to think we were quoted about health regulations not permitting us to dine in at this McDonald’s!?
As I write this, I still can’t believe what we saw. Obviously we will NEVER visit this McDonald’s again and in the interests of food safety and customer respect, I hope that sanitary guidelines will be followed at this McDonald’s...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience here. We dined in, and were told to put our numbers on the table, and that our food we be brought to us. We waited close to 15 minutes, and I asked if our order had been received. She asked what my order was, and then handed me a bag that has been sitting there for quite a while, fries were cold. I asked if we could have hot fries, since those had been sitting our for a time. She showed a bad attitude but did get us our fries. I asked about the now lukewarm cheeseburgers, and she put her fingers, (without gloves) and put them in our bag, and then said, "They are hot" and shoved the bag at me. They were not hot, but lukewarm. We ate the lukewarm cheeseburgers with unmelted cheese, because we did not want to deal with her bad attitude anymore. We were dining in, and they forgot about us which is why our food was not brought to us, so that was their mistake, not ours. I could not believe how rude she was. There were plenty of employees, so I know this could have been a better experience. Secondly, there were no sodas available at all. No fountain drinks, we were only given a choice of tea, water, or shakes. The tea tasted old. The tables were not wiped down. The bathrooms had urine all over the floors, and had not been cleaned for a very long period of time. There was no soap in the Women's Restroom. The bathroom floors were very sticky from the urine on them. My Dad used the men's bathroom which was equally nasty with urine on the floor. This is completely unacceptable. I cannot recommend this...
Read moreI have never been treated so Terrible! I placed my order at 8.59 infront of 2 Caucasian males and orded a Vanille Iced coffee. A Vanilla Iced Coffee. The 2 men being from the area I'm guessing we're served their meals before me. So when I asked for a refund due to it being such an inconvenience for them to make my Iced Coffee then the boy went around the wall for a few seconds comes back around and trying to give me my coffee inwhich it had been sitting on the other side of the wall the whole time but keep in mind the boy went around the wall for a few seconds he stabbed a hold in the cup before he tried to bring it to me so it was leaking everywhere. I then said no thank you, I'd just like my money back. He called for a manager who then came didnt even apologize or try to make things right. Did not ask anything! I asked for the boys name he said he didnt have to give it to me, it was just for the review of service. 15 minutes waiting for a Iced coffee. NEVER AGAIN!!! Advice for any Minority go through the drive thru atleast they can't see you to be racist. I know the boy was a Minority race but acted the same as the Caucasian woman that run that place. Racist!
