A Very disappointing Experience.
The Denny’s restaurant is located close to our residence in Buckeye. They made a good impression when we arrived at almost 11AM on a Saturday. Our bill came to approximately $70 for a family of four.
We ordered the "Classic Sampler", "Cali Club Sandwich", "Mac & Cheese" with a side of bananas, "Build Your Own JR. Grand Slam", "Build Your Own Grand Slam with a side", two apple juices, and two glasses of water for our meal.
Initially, we were puzzled by the fact that it took almost ten minutes for our drinks to be served after we had ordered our meals, despite the restaurant not being busy at that particular time. Our appetizer was finished quickly, but we did not receive it until the rest of our order was completed, which was disappointing. Our waitress was not very attentive, as the utensils arrived after our meals. Additionally, her coworker ended up picking up the slack and apologized for the inconvenience. I have nothing but praise for him, and if I could remember his name, I would definitely list it here.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their meals and continued eating until they were satisfied. I consumed a large portion of the California club sandwich before realizing that the avocados were beginning to spoil. The chefs prepared the dishes, were aware of the poor condition of the avocado, yet decided to conceal it beneath the bread, assuming I wouldn't detect it.
The concerns regarding the "Build Your Own Grand Slam" meal primarily pertain to the hash browns and the so-called "French Toast." The hash browns were excessively greasy and oily, while the French toast was made with standard sliced bread and was not prepared adequately.
After experiencing a lack of service from our waitress, we concluded it was appropriate to depart and spent nearly 15 minutes awaiting the hostess's return to settle our bill. During this time, the waitress had the nerve to accuse us of not leaving a tip and of attempting to "Dine and Dash." This accusation was made in the presence of her coworkers, other customers, and ourselves, until she eventually recognized that we were still present, at which point she attempted to dismiss the situation by laughing and walking away.
Nikki, our waitress, had pale skin and black hair tied up in a bun. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful, only bothering to take our order and bring us the bill.
We were quite dissatisfied with our experience and have decided not to return to this establishment. The only reason for the two-star rating is due to the fact that the children enjoyed their meals and the coworker provided...
Read moreI have something good and bad to say about my visit here..My server Marla (who I found out was only a host but pulled a double and was serving tonight) was absolutely amazing! She deserves to be a server and not just host. She was on top of everything, had a smile on her face, and hustled to get things done.
I was outside smoking when I noticed another server coming onto shift...Emily. As she was walking up from her car, she's WHINING saying "I don't want to be here but I need the money but I just don't want to be here." What a great attitude to go into work with IN FRONT OF A CUSTOMER. There was a couple waiting to be sat and when I came back inside, Emily was in front of the host stand (RIGHT in front of that couple) arguing with Marla on why she had to come in early and how she's tired and she doesn't want to be here. That poor couple heard everything so when Emily finally decides to acknowledge them and ask if they're ready to be sat, they got up and said "no actually we're good" and they left. Why would they want to eat there and feel like they're a burden because the girl who was supposed to take care of them made it VERY clear she doesn't want to be there. I would've left too. I went back to my table and overheard Emily complaining for the next 10 minutes on why she's there and why she doesn't want to work and alll the hard things she had to do. Super unprofessional. I work in the service industry. I completely understand how laboring it can be. But to be loudly complaing in front of customers and even arguing with another server on why you had to show up early is extremely rude and unprofessional and should've never happened. I was honestly shocked that I had witnessed the unprofessionalism that Emily showed and I'm surprised she is even a server with the poor attitude she had.
I do give my rating 5 stars for service because MARLA was absolutely amazing with us and impressed me with how great she was for not even being a server. She definitely deserves to be a server instead of a host and I really hope my review helps her...
Read moreI went in for looking for something to eat since other places seemed to only have drive-thru open late at night. Immediately at the entrance you see the two claw machines which gives you vivid memories of childhood trauma. The place wasn't that busy other than a few nondysfunctional families celebrating together after a graduation & some couples so the server was able to get to me fairly quickly. I wasn't expecting much since it's a Denny's so when the table they say me at had freshly spit out gum on the floor that they pretended not to see I just made sure to sit opposite of it so my feet wouldn't touch it. At least the table had just been wiped down.
I kept my order simple...a crispy bacon ranch chicken sandwich & some orange juice. I had my full order within 10 minutes. The mountain of fries easily overshadowed the delicious looking crispy sandwich. The fries are meh. They are unseasoned & obviously meant to just fill you up (hence the ridiculously large sizes.) Even seasoning them to taste leaves you a bit unsatisfied. The crispy chicken sandwich features bread toasted in butter. Every bite fills your mouth with a level of juicy butteryness that might turn some people off. The chicken is cooked well with the perfect amount of breading. There's a thin layer of ranch on the bread itself that might've been spread on like mayonnaise. They might have gotten some feedback about the ranch because the server included a tub of ranch on the side unprompted. Overall the sandwich is a middle of the road attempt that looks better than it tastes. The server came back around several times to make sure I was ok.
The food was relatively cheap until I realized they were charging $4+ per glass of orange juice (I refilled once) which brought the order total to over $20 which is ridiculous.
Overall, this is your standard Denny's. You're gonna have dirty floors, ok quality food & relatively cheap prices. Does this one reinvent the wheel? Absolutely not, but at least there were no...
