I was looking forward to getting out of the house and getting a great breakfast. The 4.something and the photos of the delicious food is really what drew me in. Also, seeing as I live nearby I was hoping this could be a place where I spend my weekends for breakfast.
My first impression was that the food must be great seeing as how the parking lot was full, which is always a good sign. However, when I walked in the restaurant was so small and packed. Additionally, there was nobody there to greet me. I had to awkwardly walk up to the cash register to ask what the wait for 1 person would be. At which point I was told there were 3 parties in front of me.
Seeing as there aren't any single seating tables or counter I asked if it would be easier for me to order a to go meal (I didn't want parties to wait for 1 person at a table that seats 4). The woman says yes and assists other people. I wait a couple of minutes for someone else to come and take my order.
I order the French toast combo and a large cup of coffee. I ask what the wait time would be and I was told 10 minutes.
I sat patiently in my car for about 12 minutes, come back in and nothing. I wait inside again for a few minutes until I'm told that my food is coming right out. After a few more minutes of standing in the middle of the restaurant I decided to step outside with the hope of them bringing my food out. I wait for a few minutes in this AZ heat again until I decide to go back inside. One of the staff ignored me standing there and I had to wait for the staff member that took my order to ask her about how much longer. At which point she called to the back kitchen to see where they were with it.
The shining point of the whole experience was that I was offered a top off of my coffee, which was in my car that I hadn't started drinking. Finally after what seems like 20 minutes longer than what I was initially told I received my meal.
My 12 dollar french toast and coffee. I open my container as I got in my car and was presented with a single slice, cut in half, soggy interior french toast. Don't know how you can ruin eggs, but soggy, not seasoned mush of scrambled eggs, and 2 thin cut pieces of bacon. Finally, to wash it all down the weakest cup of hot brown water. The coffee had no taste and was absolutely disappointing. My kuerig makes more flavorful coffee. The best thing about the meal was the whipped butter and warm syrup.
I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. I could have saved money by going to sonic and getting stuff off of their breakfast menu. I won't be going back there. Not even if there's a fire!
If I wanted mediocre food I'd have cooked it myself. Unfortunately, the poor experience, food, and most importantly the weak "coffee" led me to giving...
Read moreWe’re always down to try new spots even if it’s a bit of a drive. There’s some great local spots in Buckeye and with the town growing it’s been cool to check out some spots both new and old. Sheep Camp has been here for decades from what I can gather and the look on the outside shows it. The parking lot is small and I can see it fill up quick on the weekend. The inside is not much larger and when we walk in you’re smack dab practically on top of the tables. The inside decor is pretty basic but does look like it’s been upgraded a little recently. There’s a little sign on the wall saying wait or be seated so we did just that. Multiple employees were around talking to others and such, a few looked right at us and it took a few minutes to be greeted or anything while they talked or other customers and such. You can definitely tell it’s a local spot with many of the customers being called by name. We were then told we could sit where available. There were only two tables open so we chose a back booth. A server quickly came to take our drink order and gave us some menus to look over. The menu isn’t very large, but has some good options. I liked that they had hash browns since I’m not a fan of home fries. They had some good combo plates and such but they don’t come with potatoes so I chose the two egg and bacon meal which comes with hash browns and toast, English muffin or a biscuit. We also ordered a two egg and sausage, side of biscuits and gravy as well as country fried steak that some other reviewers said was good and happens to my all my boys go to for breakfast when out. Everything came out pretty quick. The biscuit was huge and the gravy had a good amount of meat to it. The flavor was good and biscuit baked well. It was a bit heavy for me so I only had a few bites. It’s definitely not eating light ha ha. My son said his chicken fried steak was one of the best he’s ever had. He said it was easy to cut into and not chewy and over cooked like many places. Our eggs was cooked well to our liking, toast perfect and bacon crisp. My hash browns had good flavor, but I think they should’ve been cooked a bit longer. Service was ok. They really focused on the obvious frequent customers and we sat for a bit waiting on refills and to pay our check. It wasn’t the worst service but dedicated improve. They do have some lunch options as well. They close at 2pm so come earlier to ensure you get a...
Read moreThe hubs and I pulled into circle k as I sat there I looked over at The Sheep Camp just thinking what it looked like inside etc. Once the husband got into the car I told him “hey why don’t we try out that restaurant I saw on FB someone went there and said it was really good.” We pulled in went inside with our toddler. The restaurant is small but it was so welcoming. We were immediately greeting and were already getting our drink order in. Our waitress was extremely friendly and very attentive(looking the way my husband and I look we don’t normally get this genuine of service). Every table inside was taken by very happy customers enjoying their meal taking the morning away. The restaurant was very clean and funny thing was even though it was small there was no overwhelming of food being cooked, it was very slight (random thought I had while waiting) We ordered our food biscuits and gravy with a side of crispy hash browns, country fried stake with a side of sourdough toast and crispy hash browns, and for our son we got him French toast, scrambled eggs and sausage. Once we got our food barely took 15mins, we dug in it was absolutely delicious! Everything was prepared perfectly seasoned so well and it was very well portioned(I took home leftovers). We definitely will be back, we enjoyed the food, the friendly hospitality, and atmosphere so much! Thank you so much. Definitely give this mom and pop restaurant a try you won’t be disappointed in my opinion! Oh and the ladies bathroom was so clean very well maintained, and...
