This was our first time eating here and will most definitely be our last. I made reservations online for 5:30 for a party of six to celebrate my son's 16th Birthday. We arrived at 5:25 and were told that they would need a few minutes to get some tables put together for us. Not a big deal, but since I made a reservation 24 hours beforehand, shouldn't our table(s) have been ready? We ordered 3 appetizers and 6 meals with tea and water to drink. The service was pretty good, but we did have to ask for drink refills a few times. We really liked the Bang, Bang shrimp, steak and lobster, but the calamari, mahi mahi and salmon were less than desirable. I didn't feel the food quality warranted the price. Anyway, here's the kicker....4 out of 6 members of our party were sick within hours of eating. So, I called the restaurant this morning and asked to speak with the Manager. (Cory was his name) I said "hi, I just wanted to let you know that my family ate there last night and 4 out of the 6 are sick. I think it may have been the shrimp so I wanted to let you know". He started questioning me about what we had to eat earlier in the day and said "it takes 24 hours to show symptoms of a food born illness". I told him all we had eaten was toast before church, to which he responded "that's all you ate all day"? like he didn't believe me. He asked twice more what we ate earlier in the day and asked what our symptoms were. I explained that there were two families there (us and my parents) and I have no clue what they ate during the day, but one of them is sick and 3 from my family are sick...from two different households. He asked what we had for dinner there so I told him and again explained that I believed the grilled shrimp may have been the culprit. He never once apologized, just kept explaining why it wasn't the food. I said "I'm not asking for my money back or a free meal. I'm just letting you know that I'm pretty sure the shrimp made us sick....you should check it before serving lunch today so that no one else gets sick." He then replied "ok, thanks. I will check the kitchen" and ended the call. I did my own research after our call and shellfish illness typically rears it's ugly head within 4-48 hours after consuming it. You can experience symptoms of bad fish within minutes to an hour. Not sure what food born illnesses he was referring to. \O/ I have never worked in the food industry, but I worked in Customer Service for 12 years. His lack of concern and insistence that it was not the food were off putting to say the least. We will not be dining...
Read moreFirst of all - I've had Bonefish Grill before and it's always been a great experience. I don't think my experience is a reflection of this restaurant as a whole, but hopefully just a one-off.
My wife and I arrived for our 5pm reservation, and were seated right away. Our server got our drink and appetizer order just a few minutes after we were seated. We had our drink maybe a few minutes after that. She didn't take our food order right then, but that was okay, it had only been maybe five minutes since we sat down.
Maybe 5-10 minutes later our drinks were empty and so our server got us refills and then followed that up with the bread. Great! But she again didn't take our order. About 10-15 minutes later (it's now been about 20-30 minutes since we sat down) and our appetizer came out. Now that our appetizer was out our server took our order. Our server didn't tell us about any specials, but I had looked them up online before we came, so I first asked her if they had the swordfish and pumpkin ravioli available, to which she said yes, they do. Great! So my wife and I placed our order.
20-30 later we'd finished our bread, our app, and our 3rd round of drinks (tea and lemonade). We took note of another couple who came in after us and were already eating their meal.
Our server came over and goes, "Funny story... the kitchen just told me that we're out of the swordfish dish, but we can still make the pumpkin ravioli." Since we'd already been there an hour and still didn't have our entrees I asked how much longer it would be before my wife's meal (Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos) would be out. Her answer was, "Oh, we can fire that at a moment's notice," which confused us - did she not enter our order when we placed it? I said, since we'd been waiting so long already, to just bring out my wife's order, and an extra side dish, and we'd just share.
Literally two minutes later, my wife's tacos and the side dish were brought to our table - which confused us even more. Was my wife's dish just sitting there and they were waiting for a swordfish dish that would never come?
Regardless, we ate - the food we got was good - but overall really disappointed. I feel like there was a communication issue between the server and the kitchen, or just the kitchen.
They didn't charge us for the extra side we asked for, which was nice - but overall I think it would have made more sense for them to offer to give us an entree to go since I didn't get my entree at all, and for some reason they let us go a full hour before our...
Read moreWe had a party of 6. First I want to say our waiter was incredible!! His name was Camdyn...and he did a fantastic job, was knowledgeable, attentive and very personable!! So none of this reflects on him! We ordered two orders of Bang Bang Shrimp for the table~ they were excellent as always (even ordered two more to bring home to our son and GF, who reported they were delicious as well.) Two of our party ordered Share for Two Steaks and the others ordered chowder, another app plus food to take home. This review is purely based on OUR two meals! We purchased the "2 Meals to Share" special...(My low rating is based on the FISH which is what we CAME to Bonefish for!!) We each ordered the Mahi-Mahi, as apparently they did not have the Trout available for the Share Two deal, (which was the "birthday boys" first choice), having just a Trout that was "Parm Encrusted" but apparently that was not a "swap" that can be made on the share two. (Think with the lack of the other trout being available, a sub for the Parm Trout should be allowed) So we BOTH ended up ordering the Maui-Maui. I've never been SO disappointed in a piece of fish delivered at a restaurant that SPECIALIZES in fish...EVER! (Both my husband and I kept quiet about it, as it was a special celebration of his 3 yr "Re-Birthday" following his Stem Cell Transplant for Leukemia, and we had invited others to celebrate with us and did not want to make a stir at the table.) The fish looked like a frozen piece of fish from a Gorton's "boxed" fish from the grocery. Not only was it a VERY small portion, but it was SO dry, it was hardly edible. I put all the accompanying sauce on it, but I still had a VERY hard time swallowing each bite! (I skipped lunch earlier that day as I knew we were coming to Bonefish, and wanted to be hungry!) Fortunately the Bang Bang shrimp and the Caesar salad and two sides were there to fill me up!! My hubby brought his home, telling tablemates his appetite had shrunk with his cancer treatment, but the leftover fish was thrown out upon home arrival. Again this was totally on the cook of the fish (perhaps quality of the fish pre-cooked, who knows) ~ But I DO know Maui-Maui and how it should taste and look, and as my hubby described it, it was "like eating a hockey puck". So my rating would have been higher if what your restaurant is KNOWN for had been of better quality! ...
