The food was very good and that is the only reason that I did not give a 1 star. I was in town for work with two co-workers and we selected this place based off the glowing reviews. The food lived up to the reviews; however, the service was by far the worst I have ever had.
Both of my co-workers and I are in our mid to late 20s we were dressed casual but not poorly. I travel the world for work and have eaten at Michelin rated restaurants( I say that only to give perspective that this not my first time at a high end restaurant). We walked in and were greeted with blank stares from the staff including the head chef who was out preparing fish for another table. After a min of just standing in the entrance being stared at we were asked if we had a reservation which we did. A table was prepared and were seated.
Then came the waiter a middle aged bald man who came to the table. If there was a phrase worse than "grossly condescending" that would be the phrase I would use. He asked how we found the place which we explained and with a sigh of arrogance explained the water choices. He then asked what we would like to order to drink my co-workers asked if they had any bottles of lambrusco he would recommend. No kidding he responded "why don't you try ordering an italian wine that's all we carry."( If you are unaware like I was, I don't drink, lambrusco is in fact an italian wine) The waiter extremely irritated asked him to pick a price point and that he would just bring them something. Which they declined and just found a bottle on the menu they liked and ordered it.
The waiter then said to us " when your reading over the menu the chef uses big adjectives if you need me to explain them to you let me know " Not in a helpful manner but as if we could not be capable of understanding.
As I write this I realize to explain all the rude and frankly unbelievable things that occurred during this experience would take more time than I am willing to commit. So I will wrap up by saying that if the staff and chef (who visited every table of middle aged folks and some how managed to not stop once at ours) have a certain clientele that they are looking for then they should post a sign.
I have never been treated so poorly in my life at any establishment as we were here. My hope is that management will read this and understand the importance of treating all their customer with kindness and respect regardless of age or...
Read moreWe had heard many things about OR and were glad we could get a reservation near our anniversary. We knew it would be pricey and personally serviced, so we went with an open mind. The dining room was "filled" and pleasant for a Friday night's 2nd seating, if it were MY restaurant, I'd have a small bud vase / candlelight on the linen covered table to make it really special, it just seems like a nice touch, or maybe soft classical musical for a more enhanced atmosphere . We had a chance to preview the menu before arriving so we had an idea of what to order, all I really wanted was the choices to be available, and they were, prices are a bit more than older menus show on line but still manageable. Service was very attentive and sincere.Relaxed atmosphere. the gnocchi tricolor was great, a bit heavy with sauces but attractive with a bit of different herb leaf on each , I asked if they had an garden, "No" but we noticed potted herbs on a table outside. You need to expect to wait because of the individual attention to the main course but the gnocchi appetizer arrived impressively fast, it was VERY SATISFYING, tho my "date" did not eat as much as i had hoped, i felt i had to finish them so we could be served the next dish- they did offer to wrap the few remaining to go home with. I was getting quite filled and sleepy, glad we did not overdo it with soup or salad, which was being prepared at another table, it looked nice. A couple of ladies were on the dessert course, which also looked good, I'll try these when we return in the future. I ordered the popular lobster ravioli, thrilled that it was still available and my guy ordered the trout. Both were simple and elegant and plainly served. I only ate one and a half ravioli and took the rest of them home- they serve four and a lot of white Alfredo sauce. Overall,we would come back for a special occasion and order from the 3 or 4 other dinners we did not get this time- and save room for dessert and espresso. Only advice is do not bring small children, they just will not enjoy themselves and it's not that kind of venue- get a sitter and enjoy an adult night out! ...
Read moreDon't bother. I am a born and raised Italian. I know good Italian food and this was not it. This place is super expensive. You get paper napkins and paper tablecloth. Smh. We had the gnocchi appetizer. It had a blue cheese and blueberry sauce. The gnocchitini were tasteless as was the sauce, which is strange bc blue cheese and blueberries are 2 very strong flavors. The gnocchitni were small and hard. Then we opted for the Cesar salad for 2 at the table. Had no clue it was $15pp. The dressing was so vinegary that's all you tasted. Each salad was served on a small dessert plate. Not worth the $15pp. For dinner we ordered the Jumbo shrimp RAVIOLI, the evening special of steak prepared at your table and a Veal cutlet dish. The ravioli did not have shrimp in them at all. Only shrimp were 2 of them on top as "decoration". The sauce had so much oregano it made it hard to get past 1 or 2. The veal dish was tasteless as well and the pasta that came with it was watery and no flavor. Don't get me started on the "sirloin" or "ribeye" special. They prepared it at our table, the steaks were about 1/4 inch thick or less. They were not quality steaks. They looked like cheap Walmart steaks. They were overcooked almost immediately and gray. It was so chewy, we could not finish it. So sad and so expensive. For dessert we ordered the Limoncello cake. Yet another disappointment. No lemon flavor at all. Cake part was very dry. Either they step up their cooking Game or drastically lower their prices. Carrabbas has better "italian" food honestly, at a fraction of the price. As a local, I will never go back or bring any visiting...
