After careful consideration and reading about the dangers of food contamination related to raw fish products I've decided to write a review of this business.

Two nights ago my fiancƩ and I ate at this establishment. We ordered two Shogen Combonation platters. This dish had 10 pieces of raw sushi and 5 pieces of California roll and 5 piece of some sort of crunch roll.

THe crunch roll and California rolls were okay actually pretty good but the sushi was awful.

My fiancƩ had one piece and immediately felt that she wasn't going to be able to eat another piece. She didn't want me to feel bad so she didn't tell me immediately but she eventually said she wondered if they would take the sushi back and get crunch rolls instead.

I thought she was overreacting at first. Boy was I wrong. Should have known better. A woman's intuition is always right!

We asked our server if she would take the sushi back and she went back and asked the chef and he refused to take the sushi back.

I felt bad and ordered her another crunch roll the same one hat came with the combo. I ate all my sushi and rolls.

It wasn't until after we left the restaurant that I stress feeling a bit sick to my stomach.

I was not able to have a proper night's sleep and only got three hours of sleep.

Now going on my second sleepless night, diarrhea and stomach pain I think it's important to tell people about my experience at this restaurant.

DO NOT ORDER Sushi from this place.

STAY AWAY unless you want food poisoning.

I would not recommend this place to any of my family or friends. Needless to say I will not be returning here.

I'm considering reporting this incident to the LA...

Somebody I met at a Street Fighter 6 local a couple days ago (Friday) recommended this place to me after going here for years. After a long day at AnimeExpo (Sunday), I suggested we try the place out to a couple friends. I can say with the upmost confidence why he recommended the place. The place felt like home! I’ve never liked open restaurants and I grew up eating in smaller more intimate/comfy spaces, so the environment felt just right to me. It reminded me of a sushi spot I used to go to in San Francisco when I to lives there. The sashimi was absolutely delicious (though it’s hard to mess up sashimi, let’s be real), my friends loved the rolls, but the garlic roll was probably the best out of the 5 rolls we got (Calamari roll, the Kamikaze roll, and a couple others I can’t seem to remember). The vibe was immaculate, the songs were perfect for a nice, evening dinner with friends, and the hosts were very welcoming! I remember after sitting down, not even two minutes later after one of our hosts helped us choose drinks, my friend said ā€œwe have to tip her, I love her energy.ā€ I love this place and I will definitely be back! I might even come every time I visit Burbank since I’m in Northridge.

Also, I’m sorry Stephanie you couldn’t make it to AnimExpo, but we’ll say hi to Kairi at the Bandai...

To be fair, Niko Niko not only has consistently excellent fish (especially Wednesday and Friday).., but the service is always very good. For us, this establishment along with Chiba would be a "Go-To", but [FOR ME].., the size of the restaurant is very prohibitive during the hours that most folks have sushi. Niko Niko is very popular..., but the claustrophobic nature of the environment will definitely effect those wanting more ambiance, or any semblance of privacy. The seating arrangements are literally crammed together, often making it awkward for servers, and certainly not convenient to use the restroom. At the smallish tables, you can count on being elbowed by neighbouring diners and/or having chairs bump your table..., etc. I'd suggest sitting at the bar when possible.

We generally try to go very early, like no later than 4:30, but it can be very crowded even then. I keep hoping the ownership will look for a different venue, but I doubt that will happen in honesty.

[AGAIN]..., this place has very good food, and what I consider excellent service!! I also readily admit to being turned off by having folks in what I perceive to be "My Space". I'd say it's likely I'm overly sensitive to that, but felt I should mention it for people with...

Oh my gosh... who gave this one star? Went here while driving through from SD County to the North Bay Area. It had a good rating; was close to freeway; was reasonably priced. It was in a strip mall with good signage (don't underestimate the effect on your confidence when arriving to a random sushi spot). Most importantly, there was a line! We were seated at the bar within 2 minutes. They had several house specials - I got the Lemon Drop (tuna, avo over spicy tuna roll topped with lemon slices and ponzu - see my pics). Solid. I took off the lemon piece on the last piece because it was overkill. Also got a California Roll (big - and leas than 5 bucks... I think 4.50). That was extremely tasty. A+ Also, had miso soup and green tea. Both were perfect. A. Edamame was tasteless and cold...but free. C. Service from waitresses and sushi chefs was perfect too. A. The other thing that set this place apart was quality. You could see and taste the quality in their sushi. Well prepared with good rice and generous size. I will return here for sure! But be ready for a line. It got long by the time we left. (Other noteworthy roll in our group: Caterpillar Roll) Highly recommend.

Had to get it to go since its a 45 min wait, with open tables sitting there none the less.. Can't just move a covid barrier and put two tables together? No bento boxes, no beef no bowls other than poke... Ordered two poke bowls, two chicken udon soups, Alaskan roll and some other salmon roll (fuj roll). Poke salad was delicious, sad it wasn't a poke bowl... Change the name. Asked for veggies instead of rice, no dice! Waiter asked do you want crisp onions, seaweed etc on the udon, he asked as he noticed my kids? Told him put it on the side....nope. Chef tossed it all together. Read directions chef. Not the waiters fault, I watched him write directions down. Rolls looked awesome tasted horrible. Beautiful quality fish placed over something that didn't taste good. What was that? I spit it out. Actually SPIT it out in the sink. Stripped off the fish ate sashimi instead! Tiny minuscule amount of Wasabi. Heard great things about this place, didn't find them. Hopefully it was just a bad day, sadly I doubt I will go back. Place in Noho makes a better and bigger poke salad...

First time visiting this restaurant. We were in the mood for Bento boxes and did not want to drive to Sushi Gen in Pasadena. We ordered Bulgogi which is actually Korean and tempura. The Bulgogi was good as was the green salad that accompanied it. Unfortunately, some of the tempura was over fried and some pieces had black burn marks and tasted burned. One slice of over fried squash was extremely chewy as was an over cooked shrimp. The batter used was also not traditional tempura batter. Also, the rice was too dry and not moist. The waitresses were friendly and attentive and though the restaurant is small, it is clean and nicely decorated.
